We booked 2 days 1 night tour to Mai Chau, overnight at stilt house in Poom Coong. Mai Chau is really beautiful, fresh air, but food just ok. We had a great time with our guide. Funny biking tour. For the next time, I would love to visit Moc Chau from Mai Chau.

We had a bad experience of this tour. Some positives... The food, the guide. Many negatives... Failed to deliver the evening music and dance show or the early morning craft activities; bike tour guide got us lost and we had to carry the bikes over muddy paddy fields to find the road again; home stay was unwelcoming etc. a shame but think twice before booking this expensive tour that under-delivered.

The guided bus trip from Hanoi approaches stunning mountain scenery with fantastic shapes which continues to Mai Chau situated in a beautiful fertile valley with water lilly ponds and extensive lush green rice fields.

Close to the town's main street is a climbing 1000 plus steps track leading to a historic cave for the adventurous fit visitor. The town market shows a full range of interesting area foods and other goods. The area's residents are mostly an ethnic minority who do not hassle visitors and just get with their activities. The whole area is very clean and tidy.

Visitor accommodation is in attractive bungalows with pleasing thatch roofs and walls of local natural materials close to the open restaurant and lovely bush gardens including regional fruits trees. I highly recommend travellers to visit this peaceful Mai Chau if they are in Hanoi for their holiday.

I really recommend you to take an accommodation such as home stay. Local people here prepare for you good timber house. You will sleep on the second floor. There is no bed but no impossible because of warm blanket, pillow and thick carpet. You can order the break fast here. It is incredible food made by hand here.
At night, you can order Gala diner with house hold. Amazing food and local alcohol.
There is a firework dancing in big stadium that you can join. It is better to get on a group and rend Big Speaker to make team building there.

This is my first trip by Motorbike, and i made it on the way to Mai Chau which is 160 km away from Hanoi or 4 hours on the road. it's also my first trip in 2014, and i made it just few day ago from 24-25 May 2014.

On an extremely hot day that could reach 39-40 Celsius degree, my friend and I rode our motorbike to Mai Chau and the result is burnt skin. However, what i got in the trip is beyond words, so i'd like to give you my photo story made by Google

Remember to try local foods with grilled pork, chicken, and vegetable! if you travel in late June 2014 onward, and if you have good enough budget...try to stay in Mai Chau Ecolodge. I were here (just a short visit inside the unfinished property), very beautiful!
