We were recommended to try this hotel by the tourist office in Fraserburgh, and the people in the Fraserburgh Heritage Centre voiced their approval when they heard where we were planning to stay for the night before going on to Grantown. Spacious room, comfortable bed, and a bar with a selection of malts - what could be better? The menu was brief but inventive - so much better than the vast tomes sometimes presented. The locality of the ingredients was a prominent feature.Breakfast was equally excellent though the saltiness of the scrambled egg with smoked salmon could have been considered excessive by some, and putting less in with the individual option to add more might be worth a shot. However this is a minor quibble, as is the rather coy attempt to write the menu in a faux Rob Roy accent for the benefit, no doubt, of Sassenachs . Minor points which did not detract from the overall pleasure of this sound recommendation.
