“Best pub food in caversham”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2013

Hi, this is by far the best bar food in caversham. Staff v efficient (although bar a tad slow) but we couldn't fault the food. Atmosphere is also v cosy and warm. Ideal for winter cosy lunch or dinner after a walk on the Thames.

“Good food and friendly atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

I visit this pub in Caversham quite frequently. Sometimes with Father or with friends. The service is always professional and friendly. The food is really good. Last week I chose a 'light bite' and my friend had the soup. On this day it was Tomato served with crusty bread of your choice. It was so tasty and such a reasonable price at £2.99. You just cannot go wrong at the Griffin, Caversham.

“Excellent meal and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013

Ate on friday night with wife and mother in law having prebooked a table. On arrival were pleasantly greeted and shown to our table. We ordered sirloin steaks from the new menu and they were superb and cooked as ordered. A very tasty meal supplemented by a good choice of ales and wine. All staff were very attentive and friendly on a busy night. Well worth a visit and good value for money.

“A Mixed Visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2013

Ate here with my mum on a Tuesday night. - Nice and busy for a weeknight.

Food was very nice, I had Whitebait and Rib-eye Steak - both were lovely. Steak cooked perfectly (MR) (Huge portions!)

A very nice pub with a great range of drinks and a strong menu.

My only criticisms were that the bar service was slow (Maybe a new member of staff, so I can forgive that) And the table service wasn't very good. However the quality of the food and nice atmosphere made up for this.
Will visit again!

“I cannot believe how bad the food has got in here.....”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2013

They have a new menu. So there was hope that from a food perspective that things might improve. So 3 of us went for dinner last night and it was horrid. The pork belly was disgusting and we sent it back. The garlic bread didn't taste of anything. The pie was full of cheap and nasty meat which was really chewy, the potatoes inside it were hard and the red wine sauce was way too runny. Yuk, Yuk,Yuk. This place just gets worse.I don't understand how they can get it so wrong.
