“See Israel from side to side”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

On a day with good visibility there is few pleases with better view then mount Tavor. You can stand in one place and without any problems (and no binoculars) you can see in the North Mount Hermon which is the Northern border of Israel with Lebanon. You can see in the West the Haifa University on top of Mount Carmel which is the Western border of Israel with the Mediterranean Sea. And you can see in the East the Jordanian mountain range which is of course the Eastern border of Israel. In one location you can see three sides of one country and understand who small it is.

“Hiking Mt Tabor (Tavor)”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

An easy bus ride from Afula, Mt Tabor is a healthy hiking experience in northern Israel. Beautiful vistas of small villages and rolling farmland. Historic monastery to explore too.

“Special place”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

I remember first visiting Mount Tabor in 1982, and being told by the guide that a town was planned around the foot of the mount. He was certainly right! Now there are Bedouin villages, with Kfar Tavor just beyond. The strange thing is that this mount can be seen from almost anywhere in Galilee. The top of the mount has an amazing view in all directions. We drove ourselves up the steep, narrow and twisty road, scared to meet a local minibus speeding towards us. Sadly there was a terrible lot of litter up on the top, just by the car park. We wanted to take a photo of the view so stepped into the forest - ugh. Such a shame!
The Franciscan Church is beautiful and calm. The Greek one was closed. A special place - worth including on your itinerary.

“Mount Tabor”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

We were fortunate enough to enter the church with a Nigerian Church choir group who sang "Praise be to God". This made the whole experience so special. The gardens are lovely and the church is well kept.

“peaceful oasis”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

after climbing the mount tabor from its back, reaching the church and its nice garden is a lovely experience. a nice little garden with trees for shadow, some tables and water for hikers is a welcoming spot for a break after the steep ascent. the church itself is an oasis of peace and calm though there are many visitors coming. unfortunately, the winding road leading to the place is pretty much frequented by cars and mini buses transporting tourist and pilgrim groups and disturbing the silence. walking down the steep road towards mount deborah and deburieh beautiful view. small souvenir shop for pilgrims with very friendly religious from "Mondo X"; possibility for pilgrims to book lunch or to stay over night in the small guest house with a stunning view over Jisreel Valley
