Owner description: Very beautiful garden and sculture park specialising in Rhododendrons and Azaleas so only open during spring and early summer

When we visited the garden the weather was changable but as we only had this opertunity to visit this year we took the chance. Yes it was a bit wet and misty but the garden more than made up for this lots of colour as most of the Azaleas and Rhododendrons were out. A very impressive garden with a vast amount of money and time having been spent on it. The Cafe was pleasant with good home made fair. We visited the nursery and found the staff friendly and very proud of the gardens. Will definately visit again

Fantastic garden laid over hilly valley location.
Located up a single track lane out of Grewelthorpe near Masham. Feels nice and remote when you get there.
Good footpaths around the gardens and small lakes, with sculptures every few yards/metres.
Cafe, toilets, plants for sale, and car park.
Walks vary, so the 'not so nimble' can see plenty from the upper areas. Families and children can gallop around safely up and down the hilly bits!
Well worth a visit as a keen gardener, landscape & sculpture enthusiast, or family outoing.
Nearby Hackfall landscape garden is a good contrast for a 'wilder' experience.

We saw a bit about the sculptures on our local BBC news and made the trip up here from Leamington Spa just to see the gardens. We were very lucky with the weather and there was a lot of colour in the garden when we visited so this place was a success for us. All the people we met were very friendly, especially those in the cafe - the food offerings were modest but much of it obviously home made, good value & very tasty too.

You have to be quite able bodied to get around the garden and you can see that it is very much a work in progress but we saw enough colour to keep us happy and we loved the sculptures in the park. .If we had a criticism it was that when we visited the pagoda was being built so we couldn't walk around the lake or see all the sculptures in that are - Given it was a busy Sunday its a shame the work wasn't postponed till the Monday.

In summary I think we were lucky on the timing of our visit and when we visit again we will take great care in choosing when to come but we really enjoyed our visit and we will come back!!

Agree entirely with previous comments. We visited the gardens yesterday, having in previous years really enjoyed our visits with spectacular colours. Accept that this year the poor weather has played a major role, with very little colour and very wet and muddy paths. Areas around the lake were also closed, because a structure was being constructed! Given the circumstances, the gardens should either have been closed or, as mentioned below, the entrance charges should have been reduced. A big disappointment.

This may be worth the steep entry fee (no concessions) IF the garden was visitor ready.
Which it wasn't on our visit, If the weather has affected the garden so much, the price should reflect this. It's about value. Won't be tempted to return to try again.
