We have dined several times at Tykes over the years and have not had a bad experience yet. I celebrated my 60th birthday, had celebrated New Year and many other birthdays and other occasions, as well as just going for an evening out.
The food is great and value for money. The drinks are good and the beer is kept well.
We went for my wife's birthday recently and she had the lamb shank that melted in the mouth. I had halibut which is served with risotto normally, however I asked the very pleasant restaurant manager Holly for chips instead and it was no problem at all. The chips are fantastic there and if I dined regular there I would be as fat as a bacon pig!!!
I recommend this venue to anyone, as the atmosphere is great and the seating is such that you do not sit on each other's knees and listen into their business. The staff are all helpful and polite and you could not wish for more.
Superb for lunch - parking outside, roomy tables. Extensive menu, the fish is especially good. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will return soon.
Great Copper Dragon bitter, fantastic sirloin steaks and good service. Oh, and very pleasant interior.
First ever visit. Was slightly dubious after reading some of the reviews on here, but couldn't fault a thing.
Beautiful building and amazing food.
The staff were friendly and very helpful.
