lovely few days stay in rural yorkshire, we loved the peace and quiet in the village and really enjoyed the quaint property with its lovely cottage garden in full bloom, the smell of the roses wafted around the garden each evening. Convenient pub literally over the road, we would really recommend tuesday steak night. Village only 10 minutes from Malton for supermarkets and shopping. If you love gardens, you may wish to visit Scampston Walled Garden which was lovely and only 15 minutes down the road. Thank you for lettiing us stay, we would love to return as there is so much to see in this area.
A cosy comfortable and really well furnished cottage that more than met our needs. Due to the weather the weeds had grown in the garden and my husband totally relaxed pottering. Our dog was safe and I borrowed a book to sit and read in the sun on the bench outside. We had some lovely walks, Annabelle had told me of one before we arrived and she was true to her word - Pip had a ball. The bed was so comfortable, we both slept like logs. I would happily recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a break. The pub opposite is great for a drink, meal or just local info and everyone around is helpful and friendly.
We Stayed at this lovely cosy cottage for a short break with friends - Two mums, two teenage boys and two little dogs!
The cottage is in the middle of a small village but not far from Malton for supermarkets and other amenities. The village has a brilliant pub (£3.30 for a pint or moretti!). It was very busy as it was pie and steak night so there were locals as well as the odd tourist. Lovely atmosphere and everyone was very welcoming and friendly.
The cottage is well equipped and beautifully decorated - the log burner was a massive bonus in the evenings.
The location is perfect for so many of Yorkshire’s attractions - Scarborough, Flamingo Land, Castle Howard and the North York’s steam railway to name a few.
We totally fell in love with this fantastic cottage! Just perfect for the two of us. Immaculate, comfortable, warm and equipped with everything you need for your stay. We took our dogs with us and the garden is totally enclosed so they were safe out there. You don't even have to cook as the pub is literally across the road. They do fantastic lunches, but only do evening meals on a tues and fri, although i understand they may sometimes do pot luck some evenings! The cottage is ideally situated for all sorts of interesting things to do within about a 20 mile radius and a lot of walks. The village is very quiet and peaceful. To be fair, we didn't get about much this weekend as we were meeting up with friends. Annabelle has a huge folder in the cottage with loads of info about the area in it and a local ordanence survey map with all the footpaths on. Wi-fi connection is good. There is no shop in the village, but Malton is only 10 mins up the road with all the usual supermarkets and some amazing foodie shops and cafes. We had a taxi to and from Malton on the Sat night - £11 each way which is about right - Station taxis - very good and prompt. I cant recommend this cottage too highly - just try it, you'l love it!!!
We enjoyed our stay in Burythorpe. Very peaceful with lovely countryside on the doorstep. Cottage is well equipped and beds are very comfortable. Proved to be a great base for attending Malton Cookery School.
