We had 3 evening meals here during our stay in Giggleswick, one meal in the bar and two in the dining room, which is nicely decorated with dozens of teapots. The menu is displayed on a blackboard near the bar, and has a good choice of meals, all at a reasonable price. Some of the meals were good, but others were only average. The service was fairly good, but one night we had to wait over an hour for our meal which was unacceptable.

There was a excellent selection of real ales at the bar, which were all in good condition. However, there was only one person behind the bar, and occasionally they had to serve meals too, so service at times was very slow.

Stayed here whilst cycling Way of the Roses (coast to coast - Morecambe to Bridlington )
We received a warm welcome and were shown the secure room to store our bikes.
Extensive menu, good food and very comfy beds. In fact... just perfect. Many thanks.

We had an evening meal here back in October. A really good selection of real ales, five in all and all of them in great condition. The Landlord was friendly and knowledgable and happily offered suggestions about his range of beers.
The menu is pretty impressive, chalked up on the wall outside the restaurant and caters for most (if not all) tastes and included Barnsley chops and game.
The meal we got was spot on, the service was quick and friendly and there was really nothing to spoil the evening our enjoyment of it. The overall atmosphere was fine and the locals friendly.
We were in on a Sunday evening which was quiz night and the regulars have favourite tables, you have been warned!

As a travelling engineer, I spend my life in hotels from 4 stars down. My criteria are it must be clean, friendly serve reasonably priced grub and ideally have decent beers. The Hartshead has all these with the bonus of Sky Sports in the bar and free WIFI. Room rates are under £50 for a single which compare well with the nearest Premier Inn at Gargrave charging around £80 on turn up rate with no free wifi or sky and a 12 mile journey! I have been staying there off and on since discovering it in 2010 and have always found the staff friendly and welcoming and food excellent. Always a great choice of cask ales on tap form local brewery’s in the dales including those of the Copper Dragon brewery at Skipton. Their Pipin is an excellent choice real ale. Plenty of food choice, from bar snacks watching the live footie in front of the bar fire or full 3 course in the restaurant. The pub is well supported by the locals with thriving pool leagues and I have got to know a few from my various overnight stays on business which is always important when away from home, rather than sitting alone in the bedroom. The rooms are much larger than your average Premier Inn and some can pick up the wireless signal. All are on suite and seems clean and well decorated.

For leisure travellers, Giggleswick and its neighbour Settle are the gateway to the dales and Ribble valley for hiking, biking or driving

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms with WIFI if you need overnight access to emails etc otherwise you can pick...

We stayed here with a group of friends, 12 in total, and we all enjoyed the hospitality of this hotel. The Owner, (Barbara,) the Staff and the Food were excellant. The weather was really warm and obviousley made the walking holiday very enjoyable. The staff were so pleasant and couldnt do enough for us.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel didnt hear the church chimes through the night.

My husband and I stayed here just for one night as a last minute getaway on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.
The pub is a nice friendly pub with a good atmospehere created by the locals and hill walkers that finished off their days walking by having a drink in the pub. It is located about 10 mins walk from Settle where there are a couple of other pubs as well as a social club that allows non members to go in. There are also a few nice cafes, restaurants and shops. Don't expect much more than that though, it really is a tiny village, but there is enough to do for a days visit.
In the evening we had a nice meal, and the standard was as good as to be expected for nice pub food. The staff seemed run off their feet and it was busy for food so the courses were a bit spead out but they were still very pleasent. We did not get a bottle of wine included with our meal which I though we would as it is advertised on the website, but we were told this was not the case at weekends or for 1 night stays which is not clear on the website.
When we were given our room we were initially given a twin, not a double as we booked, and when we asked for a double room we were then told that they would convert it by pushing the beds together which I did not want. When I asked for a double room with a proper double bed we were moved because we had got there early without a problem and the room was lovely. Very clean and nice with a comfy bed, flat screen TV, ample toiletries if needed and a hairdryer.
All in all a very nice hotel and I would go again, but before you book check the laterooms website as they had it on offer for £65 for a double the night we stayed, and if we had booked through them and bought our meal seperately it would have been cheaper becaue we didn't get wine with our meal included in the price.

Room Tip: Check booking sites and compare the prices before booking direct, it may be cheaper.

Had dinner here last week with family. Some of the meals were nice, others were really poor. Also got sold an ale that was clearly off with a strong taste of vinegar. In fairness they replaced the pint without a problem and overall the service was very friendly.
