“English B&B at Its Best”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

We stayed 2 nights at The Vines having travelled there on our bikes. We were met by Kevin who showed us to our room and whilst we were settling in he appeared with a large pot of tea which was most welcome after our ride. So, a good start! Our room was small and had a bath. It was bright and very clean. The bed was really comfy. The premises are dog friendly but not being dog owners ourselves that didn't benefit us. The owners have 3 dogs but you wouldn't know it. After a good nights sleep we enjoyed a first class, freshly cooked English breakfast. Large pots of tea and coffee were very good and the whole breakfast experience was first class. This place is how all B&B's should be.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your time with us and that the fact that we have both dog owners and non dog owners alike at The Vines is welcomed.

Your review is very much appreciated and we are thrilled that you feel that our B&B is how B&B should be, its great news.

Thank you

When we needed a Bank Holiday get away and wanted to take the dog with us we were lucky enough to find The Vines in Norfolk on Tripadvisor. Within reach of Thetford Forest and the North Norfolk coast we had plenty of fresh air and relaxing walks to get away from it all. The break was made especially enjoyable by the welcoming and friendly hosts at The Vines and of course their dogs. A very clean and comfortable B&B in a very quiet location and only a short walk from the local pub, The Vines was the ideal base for our weekend away. On top of this Kevin's hearty breakfast of locally produced and organic delights was both delicious and more than enough to keep us going. Both Leigh and Kevin made us feel very welcome and made a great fuss of Lottie our chocolate Lab. Highly recommended whether you are taking the dog or not !

As always, Leigh and Kevin give a warm welcome, a pot of tea on arrival. A good night's sleep followed by the delicious cooked breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble. This is a fantastic stay if you have dogs, No problem with having your dogs in the room or if preferred there is a kennel outside. This is a true Dog Friendly accomodation.

Room Tip: We have stayed in most of the rooms and all are different so hard to recommend one room over another...

We were in need of a short break, finding somewhere nice isn't always easy when you want to take your dog along! The Vines had great reviews, so we booked up for 3 nights & have to say, it lived up to our expectations. Shortly after arrival, Leigh bought up a fresh pot of tea & let us know where things were. We mentioned that our dog liked to jump up on the bed in the mornings & we had bought a fresh blanket if that was ok, no problem said Leigh & supplied a cover for the bed!. Taking up our luggage we passed a little "Dog Lounge" at the top of the stairs, nice touch! We stayed in Freeways Room which overlooked the garden, it was just big enough & had a very comfy bed. Breakfast was arranged for 09.00, we were told that our dog could join us, bonus! Off we went as recommended to the Old Windmill pub, torch in hand. The pub had a nice warm atmosphere, an extensive menu & a nice log fire. It also had a very drinkable, guest, flat cloudy cider which we quickly find out, had a kick on it like a mule....! Guess where we ate the next 2 nights.
The well laid out village green which was just a short walk away, was perfect for clearing the cobwebbs out with the dog next morning & the substantial breakfast set us up for the day. In the breakfast room there are plenty of little dog related signs to read....
We made our way up to Holkham Bay & can recommend this if you want a sheltered or exposed walk for miles & miles.
We enjoyed our stay & left feeling relaxed.
If you have a dog & are thinking of visiting The Vines, just do it! Leigh & Kevin apart from being nice freindly hosts, are clearly "dog mad" & we hope to return later in the year.

We are sorry that you were disappointed with your stay with us.

As your review was a month ago I am trying my best to recall your stay with us.

If I am correct it was when we were having significant issues with our boiler, gladly now rectified and this was when you arrived which was not as we would have wished it by any means and unavoidable as you would imagine on the day, hence the juggling of vehicles.

With regards to breakfast we dont run to a strict time as the majority of our guest come for peace and leisure and with breakfast comprising of tea, coffee etc followed by cereal, toastwe cook our breakfast fresh from scratch. Had we been made aware that you thought the time was too lengthy I would have addressed the situation on the day to the best of my ability but sadly that did not happen.

Our house is very old and the rooms at the back are not enormously large and we do receive the odd negative comment. I will alter our description of the 2 rooms to defer to the fact that they are compact as we would not wish to disappoint where we can possibly avoid.

We have just had a very nice week’s break in Norfolk 14th-21st October staying at the Vines B+B in Great Cressingham in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. This is a very dog friendly b&b in fact I would go so far as to say that it is for dogs and their owners. The accommodation was very nice in this historic 15th century building with its beams and interesting quirkiness. The breakfasts were good and large enough to set you up for the day.
For an evening meal there is a very nice pub with good food just a short walk from the Vines where your dog is welcome in the bar.
Will be returning the next time we are in Norfolk.
Thanks to Leigh and Kevin we had a very comfortable stay.

I stayed at The Vines for 3 nights starting 5 October with my 2 dogs. Accommodation was the log cabin in the garden ; spacious & comfortable. Safe for the dogs. Breakfast was good , with home produced eggs donated by the hen who hops onto the window ledge & watches the guests enjoying them through the window.

Leight and Kevin are wonderfully hosts, making you feel welcome from the time you arrive until the time you leave. Clean rooms, excellent food. The are a true dog friendly B&B like no other we have stayed at.

Room Tip: We enjoyed both Marley's and Beethoven rooms. The latter has steep stair access.
