being a local we decided to have our new years day lunch at the Ram, The service from the kitchen was terrible one hour wait for main course, cod and chips served on a cold plate undercooked batter, the wifes plaice and chips special was cod and chips ,again not cooked/microwaved properly. half hour wait for dessert 3 boules vanilla ice cream with a little chocolate sauce on top. The worst meal we have ever had out ,wild horses would not drag us back, this establishment has undergone a change of ownership quite recently and its reputation is very poor in the local community,we have since discovered. Cannot comment on residential side, but comments made to us by local third parties are not favorable

I sometimes work in the area and have always stayed at the Old Ram Inn.
The staff are very friendly and very helpful at any time of the day or night. The food is excellent and the accommodation breathtaking in terms of the exposed beams and brickwork. Definatly worth a visit, I have sampled many of the meals on the menu and would recommed all of them,

This small (11 Rooms) but very friendly Coaching Inn is one of my favourite places to stay. From arrival to departure you are looked after by excellent staff, fed fantastic food, supported with a world class wine list (sometimes bottles are available to buy to take home!), sleep in lovely rooms (some with origianl beams) and luxuriate in nice bathrooms. After all of this then the largest full English breakfast has to be tackled! The whole experience is a joy.

The Ram only has 11 rooms and has a very homely feel about it. I have stayed several times and it's great value, has superb food, roaring fires in winter and really comfortable well appointed rooms. Best time to go is end of November/ beg. December as the owner sells off the contents of his cellar. He is a real wine buff and travels the world collecting interesting and varied wines and champagnes. Great base for a weekend away!
