Took the wife and her mother and her mother's sister to Norfolk for a short break. We had lovely weather, sunny for all the days and the lodge was perfect. The staff were extremely helpful and couldn't fault the accommodation. We were lucky that Marina Lodge was on the end of the row and the next door lodge was not occupied. I think that as the walls were very thin, it might have been a slightly different experience if there were noisey neighbours.
The stroll into the nearest pub, the Ferry Inn is easy and I spent a good few hours wasting the time watching the boats come and go all helped by a fine pint of Young's bitter.
We hired a day boat from the Marina, the same company and was given instructions on how to drive etc, although I was already experienced, and had a pleasant trip up the river to Wroxham and back. Unfortunately although we had hired the boat for the day, there just wasn't enough time to explore the easterly part of the river from Horning.
There are plenty of pubs/restaurants around, the Ferry Inn is well within walking distance and served the normal pub grub, although we didn't eat there, we had two great meals in The Swan in Horning and one in the fish restaurant over the bridge at Wroxham.
Breakfast on the last day was had at the New Inn, just down the road, but just a bit too far for the elderlies to walk to.
I look forward to going again, and would certainly recommend the Ferry Marina as the facilities catered for young and old alike.
