The whole weekend visit was quite buzzy with lots going on. Friday night there was a singer and band in the bar, no quite our cup of tea but appreciated by most of those there for a drink and a night out. We had our meal in the restaurant which also had its problems as the food took quite a long time to come but the manager Justin worked well and kept on top of all the situations as they developed and did have a pleasing working attitude that made the problems much easier to accept.
The room was modern in its decor and very light, bright and very spacious.
Breakfast suffered the usual problems of serving hot food but they were happy to replace any food that didn't come up as hot as we would have liked and the service was very good.

Room Tip: Room no. 6 at the top of the stairs, so close to the lounge area was light bright and spacious.

My husband and I have just returned from a very rare weekend away with no kids, dogs, work etc. And what a truly wonderful weekend it was, I don't mean to gush but it has to be said that it was more than I'd expected in so many ways.
The staff were so friendly and helpful, from the moment we checked in nothing was to much trouble, even with a busy restaurant and bar on Saturday evening.
The room we had was exceptionally clean and the super king bed dressed in fresh luxury linen, and extremely comfortable.
The bar offered a great selection of beer/larger and the biggest selection of wine by the glass I have seen.
We were very kindly shown some of the other rooms available before we left, to enable us to choose for our next visit, and they were all to the same high standard with individual character and fantastic attention to detail.
I cannot wait to return.

This is an excellent place to stay, the staff are very helpful, the food is fantastic and the rooms are also excellent,we only manage to get away once or twice a year for one or two nights and we always end up at the Lodge,we have stayed in the Coal Bunker (x2) the Garden shed both dog friendly and also the Attic room,if you can book the Attic it is well worth the extra(stairs can be awkward) fantastic room.We have booked for 2 more stays.
There are a few things i think could be looked at,the pillows in both courtyard rooms were below par(putting cushions in to fill the gap),both times we have stayed in the coal bunker there has been a funny smell(is it the boiler room next door?)will ask to have an air freshener next time.
Also i think larger portions of veg with main meal would be better,i had "pie of the day" which was out of this world.

We stayed for a couple of nights on a Travelzoo deal, with a Superior room upgrade. The first impression was that the room was a little small but that wasn't actually the case. Once we had discovered the changing room/walk in wardrobe, we found that we had a lot more room than we first thought. The bathroom was good with a full shower and a separate bath. In the hotel restaurant, the dinner was good but not spectacular and one waitress seem rather distant with a knack of looking the other way when passing by our table. The downside for me was the lack of good beers available (excluding lager) and the fact the wine list was poor even by modern pub standards. Change this and this hotel could be a real cracker. Breakfast was first class and overall the service was excellent with some staff really putting themselves out to go the extra distance. One point to note is that if you are on a deal and you have a voucher for "dining" it is for food only. The voucher doesn't make this clear but strictly speaking the hotel is correct. Despite my slightly negative comments, we would go back.

Room Tip: An upgrade to a superior room might be worth the extra.

Thank you for your review of The Lodge Inn,

We are pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. It's great to see you took advantage of our recent TravelZoo special offer which represented outstanding value for money. We very rarely run these types of offers but they are a great help at filling our gaps.

We have 4 real ales on hand pulled pumps here at The Lodge including a seasonal and a local ale. We have found it becomes very difficult to keep the beer consistently at it's best if we have any more than 4 ales on. Our new menu and wine list were launched last Wednesday, 17th April - I'm not sure if you are commenting on our new list or old? Our new list offers every wine on the list by the glass, I know of no other establishment in the county that offers this.

We are pleased you would return to us and we look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to The Lodge again soon.

Yours sincerely,

Gavin Wyeth

We regularly visit Old Hunstanton and thought that the hotels we normally use were the best? until we stayed at the lodge (March 2013) This is a Pub/Hotel which gives any 4 stare hotel a
run for there money. As we have a dog we booked a superior courtyard room as they give you access to the outdoors without disturbing other guests, the room had all the home comforts needed including Tea and Coffee making facilities, flat screen TV and comfortable Beds. As

contain good old favourites like ham egg and chips or any form of Pasta meal!

I travel frequently through my business so experience hotels and guest houses of varying quality. The Lodge is exactly what I would want every time I am away from home. Helpful but unfussy, the staff enhance the characterful exterior and chic interior. Tremendous array of refreshments on tap, sport on the big screen (but not turned up so it doesn't annoy non sports lovers) and a terrific menu. Rooms in the hotel are compact but all you need (with big bathrooms) while I understand those across the yard are apparently exceptionally spacious.
If you are in Norfolk - which in itself comes highly recommended - stay here. And if you are golfer, make this the venue for your next long weekend; Hunstanton is a minute away and Royal West Norfolk less than 10 minutes. CB
