Last Sunday my boyfriend decided to take me for a trip to the Upstreet and the nearby natural reserve. We started our trip with the Grove Ferry river cruise. The cruise was operated by a lovely man, who presented himself a real expert in local wild life. We hoped to spot a kingfisher, which is the most attractive bird nesting in this area. In spite of the dissapointment on the bird-search front, we managed to see many other flying and swiming feathery friends and hear a fascinating story about the river, the life around it over the years and about the local community. It was a very relaxing experience; it's definitely worth giving it a go when you have some time and a boat trip resistant stomach! A & G
