“Good food, good value”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

This pub doesn't win any prizes for décor, however, they were friendly and welcoming, the fire was lovely and the food plentiful, well cooked and very good value. My husband had chicken balti which came with rice and popadums, and I had chicken, chips and salad which was great too. Both cost around £8 each - can't go wrong at that price.

“Good food and plenty of it.”
Reviewed December 16, 2013

You won't go hungry at this friendly country pub. The food is of an excellent standard and good value for money. Have been going there for many years for the Wednesday Jazz night and tend to preceed the entertainment once a month or so with a very satisfying meal. Highly recommended.

“Good place to go if you have a big appetite!”
Reviewed December 13, 2013

Arrived to be greeted outside by drunken local. We were fairly early on a Friday evening and there were just a couple of locals who had drunk a lot and whose language was less than desirable. However, welcome from staff was great and they were very accommodating. I ordered a starter of FILO prawns and was surprise or recover 8. They were nicely cooked and came with a salad and chilli sauce. My vegetarian husband had the Brie starter and was equally happy. For the main course I had sirloin steak and he had a veggie burger. Both came with a massive bowl of shared chips. The food was hearty and there was lots of it. We both eat a lot and could not finish. As the evening wore on the locals left and lots of couples and groups came in to eat.

The staff are really friendly, the service is excellent and the food is good value and is good pub grub. I would definitely return.

“THE Best Sunday Lunch - ever!”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

My mother had been told of the Rose and Crown recently so, as we were looking for Sunday lunch, we decided to try it.

What a find. We arrived a little ahead of noon and were warmly welcomed by the owner. Our orders were taken a little ahead of noon and delivered promptly.

What a feast. We both selected the beef roast....wonderfully cooked and presented and consisted of a good size slice of beef, Yorkshire pudding, proper roast potatoes, new potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, a large float of gravy and some extremely good horse raddish sauce.

This was the best, the very best, Sunday roast that I have had anywhere in the world.

It is a must!

The ambiance of the pub was traditional English village - with all the locals coming in for their Sunday chat and drink.

I congratulate the owners of the Rose and Crown and when I am back over from Australia, we will be frequenting this pub again!

Well done!
