“Outstanding Quality and Value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

Went here for a family meal on Saturday evening and would thoroughly recommend it – even if you do not live that close, it is well worth the drive!!

The pub is quite small, but full of “Kentish” charm and character and the staff could not do enough for you. The menu is interesting and varied and the quality was outstanding…. The portion size was massive and I would recommend that you do not eat for the entire day before you go, so that you can at least do two courses justice – whether a starter and main, or a main and desert… which are all home cooked and looked delicious!

Well worth a visit, and I bet this place is very cozy and welcoming in the cold winter months!

“Good traditional pub food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

I have eaten here many times & alway come away full. But last week eleven of us went (pre booked) about 5ish.Table was ready. We all ordered something different for the main course & out it came spot on. All the meals came out together, well presented and piping hot. not one complaint. So I would like to thank all the staff on duty for making my retirement meal SPECIAL. Thanks...

“Lovely pub with good service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

We drove out to this nice village pub for Sunday lunch. We had not booked and on arrival were told by the very friendly staff that there was a one hour wait for food. We sat outside in the small garden area. Our really good Sunday roast was served within half an hour. It's a lovely village, that is very peaceful.

“A little gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

We dropped in to have some food to find all the tables reserved, so decided to sit in the garden. First tip would be book a table if visiting Friday or Saturday night. The menu was the same as on their website and was reasonably priced compared to a lot of pubs these days. The 3 of us chose Steak and Ale Pie, Lasagne and Pint of Prawns for main course followed by 2 Apple Crumbles and Knickerbockaglory. Everything was delicious, homemade, good quality and good portions. Dad said it was the best crumble he had ever tasted! Will definitely be going back as there is more on the menu to try

“What a surprise.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

On a visit to family in Chartham we booked a table at the Artichoke for 6 of us. On arrival we were given a round table which had a glass top over a well, what a talking point. The order was taken and drinks delivered very quickly. We had to wait for the food to be cooked, about 20mins, as it is cooked to order, but that was ok. with us. At least it was fresh. I had steak pie, it was a huge round pie, full of meat and thick gravy, wonderful. The chips looked home made and crispy, peas nice and fresh. The only thing I could complain about is, I could not at it all. The best meal I have had in a pub for years.
