“Loved by Lunchtime Crusties”

The starters were very good, the staff friendly and efficient but the mains were disappointing despite the large portions. The pub architecture is attractive.

“Top notch nosh!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

Lovely service, friendly, food as it should be! The best 1/2 pint of shell on prawns I've had in years, served with warm lemon hand wash as it should be. Scallops were beautifully cooked to perfection.
Going back for more, reserved the Well table and know we're going to have a lovely time.
Will make sure I have room for the cheeseboard next time!

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

Chances upon this pub with some friends on a Saturday night. They were busy, but attentive nonetheless. The locals were friendly and the staff chatty and pleasant. Good food, enormous portions. We didn't have starters Be could not manage desseert. Very reasonably priced, and we will visit again.

“Simply Gorgeous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

I took the family (8 of us) to have a meal at the artichoke last night. What a fabulous night we had. The food was to die for, absolutely stunning and beautifully presented.
We all had 3 courses but actually struggled to get through it all as the portion sizes are very generous, but struggle we did as it was too good to stop eating.
The ambience of the whole place is wonderful too, its a beautiful proper oldie worldie pub with a blazing open fire crackling away. The atmosphere inside is really nice and a credit to the staff and owners who give you just the right amount of attention without being overbearing like some restaurants you go into.
As if you needed it to get any better, the prices were a revelation too. I found it incredibly reasonable, especially with the top standard of food we were served. I wouldn't of been upset if our bill had been twice as much, such was the quality of the food.
We live nearly an hour from this pub and pass dozens of other excellent pubs and restaurants on route, but we will definitely be making the trip again and again, and so should you, you will not be disappointed.
