Stayed with my partner, our two grandchildren and my mother all of us enjoyed our stay. The cottages are situated in a lovely quiet location just ouside Weston Super Mare. Our cottage was of a good standard and very clean although the paintwork a little tired in places and in need of a fresh coat plus new seals around the bath and so on. Wifi was a bit of an issue (kept losing the connection) and there was no information in the cottage re the pasword... perhaps an idea for an folder in the cottages with this and other helpful information? Just minor things which did not detract from our enjoyment. We would recommend Somerset Court Cottages to others

We rented the tiniest cottage for a midweek break in March.
We slept so well and were so happy. We felt recharged in mind and body.
Yes, it's dinky but that makes it beautiful in its own way. The bedlinen was lovely and clean, the rooms a little dusty but it's an old building and they seem to manufacture dust. I wish the last people before us had washed up as I re-washed everything I used but that's not the fault of the owners who were courtesy itself.
A few things could do with updating but they're not really essential. You can't turn the heating output down, the oven tins have no surface left on them.
I would try not to go into Weston Super Mare too often, it's not very nice and very busy. I went to Aldi to stock up on our way to the cottage and that was enough.
In all - we loved it and will return if Peter and his family will have us.
Thank you for having us.

Room Tip: The tiniest cottage is very snug but so cosy.

Overall in our opinion the house was in a poor condition, i.e. dirty and in general need of a massive clean up which It does not appear to have had for some time. Not what I would expect as a paying guest having driven 4 hours to get too.
I am the least fussy person in the world provided a few things are a given i.e. cleanliness (a clean kettle not covered in dirt inside) etc..
Overall the worst experience I have ever had with holiday accomodation and a massive let down.
We spoke to the proprietor and we left after less than an hour having received a full refund.

We stayed in a cottage in Oct and on the whole found it to a very good standard. It would have received a higher rating but we found the property in bad need of a good clean - the bedding and linen were clean - as were the bathrooms but the bedrooms had a real heavy layer of dust that hadn't been taken off in over 3 months in our opinion.

The other factor that was very annoying was the lack of wifi signal. The property advertised wifi on its frontpage - when we arrived - I couldn't pick up a wifi signal on an iphone4, eeepad or HP laptop at all in the cottage - on walking outside, to the main house where the owners live I picked up a secure network - on moving more than 5 feet away I lost it.

I did speak to the owner who advised that we should use it outside sitting at the table near his house. It was October and relatively dark/cold/impractical to use the internet outside..it needs fixing/removing from the frontpage as we ended up spending time away from the property in a wifi location.

In addition, if you were prepared to sit outside you needed to enter a 26 digit key and then advise the owner within 15 minutes to avoid being kicked off - this was apparently to prevent "hacking" - not sure whty in this day and age someone would hack a signal that only reaches 5 feet outside the main house..

Other than the above it is reasonably priced.

Room Tip: take a vacuum to pick up the dust..

We stayed in the smallish Baytree Cottage, four adults and one baby. The bedrooms are an excellent size, the living space is a little small, but enough room, and coupled with the outdoor space and a delightful courtyard with plenty of colour from well kept borders/baskets, space wasn't a problem. The kitchen area (which overlooks the lounge/diner) is only large enough for one person at a time, but if you do need more space then rent one of the larger cottages at the address.
Peter, the owner was very helpful before our arrival with our questions, and we had so little trouble that we didn't speak to him again until the day we left, other than a friendly hello as we crossed the courtyard. There is plenty of off-road parking, and the lanes around the property are nice and quiet, with more joggers and horses than cars :)
The nearest pub (the Eldon Arms) is a mile away by road (slightly shorter via footpath), and convenience stores are also just over a mile away. Wick St Lawrence is well positioned for Weston's supermarkets as they share the same side of town, saves having to encounter busy traffic to and from.
I really can't think of anything negative to comment on, we had a lovely week long break, and would surely be back if visiting Somerset again.
NB: the default map location according to TripAdvisor is incorrect. Try google mapping the postcode, as Wick St Lawrence is futher North.
