This is a "stately" house situated 45 minutes from Santiago. If you do not have a car it is virtually impossible to escape.

If you wish to relax it is probably fine, but we wanted to see the local area. You can only walk for about 30 minutes before coming to barbed wire fences. We borrowed bikes, but again it is not ideal. There is a bus route nearby, but if you are using these you are better staying in Santiago.

Overall we were persuaded by our travel organiser to stay in a hotel that did not suit us.

There are no choices for meals and the standard of the food is poor.

The staff are very kind and helpful,

Set among beautiful grounds (the gardeners must be geniuses) in a hacienda mansion house, this is one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in, and the service is superb. The location is perfect, only 45 minutes by car from the Santiago airport and right in the middle of Chile's wine country. The hotel will arrange airport pickup and return for you and also help you arrange winery tours (including their own - Santa Rita is one of the oldest and best wineries in Chile). If you get tired of wine-tasting, it's an easy drive into Santiago for sightseeing there. Casa Real is a bit expensive ($350/night including breakfast), but worth every penny for the spacious, well-appointed rooms, superb service, good food and exquisite setting.

Unquestionably the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in!

From the first greeting to the last goodbye, everything, especially the staff and management, was, quite simply, superb. We arrived, tired. Would we like lunch? Or perhaps we would prefer just a sandwich by the pool? The latter arrived on a starched white tablecloth, accompanied by a chilled bottle of the local chardonnay, water and a fruit salad. The pool area was so lovely - middle of 160 acres of private parkland, sauna bath with plunge, etc etc. From then on, it got even better!

The room was delightful, the various public areas could have been in a small French chateau, the dining area was a sort of conservatory, the dinner was magnificent, the breakfast wonderful, the excellent wines from the vineyard next door.

For our tour to the vineyard we were delivered and fetched in a horse-drawn carriage.

Paradise Refound!

Amazingly gorgeous historical main house (with museum quality furniture) of the owner of Vina Santa Rita (winery) where the beyond the security gates there are beautiful grounds, pool, and other amenities are only available to the house guests and not the general public.

Everything is at your "beck & call." For example, an employee will golf-cart drive you a spectacular landscaped garden pool/spa; or you can request dinner (truly fabulous, which obviously, includes their wine) served on the mansion's veranda over-looking all; I was met in the morning by my guide in a handsome horse carriage that took me to privately tour the Santa Rita Winery. Very nice!

My room was grand in decor and space with tall windows that opened onto a large enchanting interior patio. My room had a "relaxing area" with entertainment options, couch, desk and comfy chairs. Only short-term problem was lack of hot shower water (fixed fast).

I felt completely able to relax, enjoy and absorb Santa Rita's beauty (study swan social culture, and walking through the vast fruit orchards, all the while knowing a tourist-bus would not be pulling-up at the doorstep, and "snap" your mind out of a better place. Heaven. I highly recommend for those that savor the best.
