We stayed here for free because we had GCs from Healthway. It was okay. The property is big and so is the pool. The view of the Taal Volcano was also the highlight! A magnificent view indeed!

But everything else is average. The room was big, with 2 queen beds. But the cleanliness level can be best described as average. The food is a bit on the expensive side, and is very forgettable. So come here only if you will be in the area anyway. It is certainly a long drive from Manila.

The trip from Manila via the SLEX and Star Tollway thru the Tanauan-Talisay Road was easy. Upon arrival in the resort, we were greeted by courteous and friendly staff; it was the fastest, no-fuss check-in we have experienced, so far. All I needed to do was show my reservation letter, sign some papers, and we were right away led to our villa. Our room was generally well-kept; the bathroom, however, was a little moldy. There were ample pillows , blankets and towels for the four us.
The resort has a nice view of the famous volcano and we were lucky that we were given a room that is just a few steps from the lake. The entire resort is well-maintained and the swimming pools looked clean. What I really like about this place is that there are many cozy nooks and corners, (under the trees or by the lake) where you can just sit down and spend time chatting with your family (and/or friends). You can even request for your coffee to be served in your cozy corner. You can also just frolic around the resort and discover the chapel, the many fruit-bearing trees, and the obstacle course. There are other amenities available (boat rides, jet ski, etc.); however, we wanted to go fishing but got disappointed because we were told that the fishing lines were all broken.
There is a wellness center where you can have a massage and a fish spa! That was quite an experience to have with my daughter. Just make sure to tell the therapist about the pressure level that you like because they tend to be a little too eager.
The dinner buffet consisting of roast beef, halabos na hipon and grilled pork liempo (for P 395) was good enough. The breakfast buffet (at P 295) which included tocino, longanisa, tapa, and daing na bangus, salted egg salad, pancakes, puto, and omelletes was also good. I particularly liked the kapeng barako.
Over-all, it was a pleasant stay in the resort and we might come back with our friends soon.

Club Balai Isabel is not a big resort which adds to its cozy atmosphere. My husband and I stayed for just one night but the two-hour trip was all worth it. First, we felt so secure because the guard at the gate will check your name against their list of reservations before granting entry. Second, check-in process was a breeze. Lastly, our room has a full view of the lake and small volcano. Nothing beats waking up to these beautiful sights. They offer several activities but since it was a time to unwind we chose to walk along the shore, watch the sunset and listen to an acoustic performer. Though they don't have elevators, someone will carry your luggages for you and the stairs' steps aren't high making it a lot easier to go up. Service is great. Food is nothing extraordinary which is sad for a foodie like me.

I went to Talisay, Batangas from Tagaytay using the precarious zigzag route which is definitely not for inexperienced drivers. I wanted to get fruit bearing tree sapplings which Talisay is known for and so I traveled early. I hoped to find a nice clean place to have breakfast and found a sign along Talisay's main road pointing to Balai Isabel. I was not disappointed.

I had the breakfast buffet and love everything on the spread. There's garlic fried rice, pancit noodles, crispy small dried fish, tocino sausages, and the yummiest tapa. There's fresh fruits, champorado (chocolate porridge), cereals, pancakes, local puto (rice cakes), and the best Batangas brewed coffee. For P295.00 I think I had the best breakfast. I know other resorts or hotels would have more selections but here each food was prepared in the best way possible that each bite was just pure contentment. I had 3 cups of the brewed coffee with muscovado sugar (dark brown sugar) and paired with their puto while looking out towards Taal lake and enjoying the early morning Sunday breeze. It felt like home.

I didn't check-in their hotel but I'm sure it would have been a wonderful experience as all staff I met were uber courteous and all smiles. The resort is clean, has lots of amenities. They even have a church in their premises that gives an old local charm to the place. I met the lady owner and she was as nice and charming as her resort.

I recommend the place for a nice family get together or a small office bonding.

Room Tip: Tale the SLEX route if you're not confident with your driving skills to take the Tagaytay route.

The grounds of Club balai Isabel is huge. This is a great place to have a team building. They have several areas for sports activity and several pools to choose from. The Taal lake is great to see but not to swim. You can do some sailing on the lake though. The grounds had beautiful garden setting. The place is also laid out in a way that even if there is a team building activity going on, there is privacy for other guests who are not part of the activity. They have a pool that is child friendly because was very shallow.
The food is okay. The rooms are clean.
Some setbacks....there was an infestation of ants so the housekeeping had to come a clean out the room. The pressure of the water was strong that the pipe of the sink of our bathroom burst. This was fixed immediately within an hour unfortunately they did not clean up after the bathroom pipe was fixed so it was a bit muddy. Overall..great place for a company outing.

Stayed in this property twice in August and was satisfied during both visits.

To Metro Manilans, Balai Isabel is this: a quick weekend getaway for family relaxation, good food and good massage. It is only 1.5 hours away from Manila taking SLEX, STAR tollway then Tanauan exit to the town of Talisay. The quick drive makes it an attractive last-minute idea.

The property is expansive as it is situated on a large plot of land beside Taal Lake. The overall appearance of this property is clean and decent. It is not five-star, but one can see that there was some thought by the owner in designing the resort. It carries a Filipiniana theme, and this can be seen in the designs of the reception lobby, restaurants and the rooms. There is also a lot of trees surrounding the property, which adds to its relaxing lakeside atmosphere.

The rooms are plenty, of average size and contemporary design. The villa suites accommodate large groups, making it ideal for families and corporate groups. The room design features decent interiors, furnishings and finish. They win my nod of approval given the price we paid.

There are 2 pools, which our children enjoy staying in. Both have views of Taal Lake, while one is located beside a restaurant that serves good Filipino and contemporary dishes. Its enough to contribute to a relaxing weekend.

The service is novice, and one might quietly question the training that the staff received, but obviously you'll see that they do try their best.

We tried the massage during each visit - excellent on both times.

Also, one can stay in Balai Isabel and still get to make a quick dinner trip to Tagaytay, only 45 mins on the zigzag Talisay-Tagaytay road.

All in all, Balai Isabel wins as a weekend idea, I will go back and will be looking forward to the pool, food, massage, and good family bonding times.
