We have been coming down to the new forest for the last ten years or more.. Every time we always look forward to stopping off here for our tasty Sunday lunch before heading back home.
The staff are always so friendly and efficient, nothing we asked was a problem and we were taken care of straight away. Not to forgot the Sunday roast is always delicious and the beef is to die for. Also the homemade dessert are not to be missed.

We first visited in the summer, and had dinner in the garden, it was excellent. So driving through the forest on Friday 4th Oct. we made a detour to have lunch. We were not disappointed, the food and service was again excellent. We ate in the bar because of the weather. Only downside to the visit, was the toilets. They certainly are due to an upgrade, and a good bit of decoration.

Went here on the off chance yesterday (Tuesday lunchtime) with my husband and daughter on a cycle ride for a spot of lunch. After a warm welcome we were shown to a table the waiter took are drinks order, showed us the specials board and promptly got a highchair for my daughter. I decided on smoked Kedgeree, my husband Bangers and mash and my daughter of course had pizza. The food was served in little under 20 mins and was amazing, hot, very generous portions and delightful. Full up from our mains we declined desserts but sat in the comfy chairs with a cup of tea. It was a quiet lunch but the the two men who served us were extremely efficient, polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The garden was very pretty however the toilets need a little work . All in all we will def return on our next visit to the New Forest!

Been coming down to the new forest for the last couple of months due to work. Came across this gorgoeus little pub and have been coming back ever since. The steak and ale pie is the best i have ever had. My friend also had a very nice tender rump steak. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly!

There website states ... PROBABLY THE BEST SUNDAY ROAST IN THE FOREST!!!!
I don't think so! We waited 50 minutes for any food. When it came, it was horrible. Everything was cold. Potatoes over cooked and powdery! Vegetables raw, which wouldn't have been too bad if they didn't include leeks. Strange taste to Yorkshire pudding, which was soggy. Nobody asked if we were enjoying our food. Very disappointing, especially for £11.95 per roast. Bar staff bickered at the bar. Other customers were complaining. The toilets were the dirtiest I've ever seen. (That's including public toilets) cobwebs, spiders and grime everywhere.

We were expecting more, as this place always looks busy. We won't be going back.
