“Lovely garden, dog friendly, decent but average pub grub...”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

Stopped at this pub for lunch on a drive through the New Forest. It was a lovely sunny day and we were traveling with our dogs, so the large, nicely planted back garden was just the ticket. The staff were friendly and efficient, the setting was lovely and they were very dog friendly, even offering a selection of doggy food for your 4 legged friends. First time I had come across that! Food was pretty decent, though nothing really specail. I had a Chicken Caesar salad and my husband the scampi and chips. While my salad was better than many I have encountered in pubs, with a freshly grilled well-seasoned chicken breast and a very nice dressing, my husbands scampi was the bog standard, heavily breaded frozen variety, peas were the same, and the chips just OK. The saving grace was a lovely homemade tartare sauce. The bottom line is that it is what it says on the package, but with no real flair from the kitchen.

“Very nice pub”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Very typical English pub, love the decoration. Food is good and the price alright. The only bad point would be the long delay on busy day and the fact they rush you. Otherwise a very good place to chill out.

“Great Beer Garden”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We stumbled across this place , halfway round a bike ride. Its in a useful location just the hustle and bustle of Lyndhurst. Menu was varied and the food was good. The most pleasing thing about the pub is the great beer garden. Lots of benches and not a sight of the road to be seen.

“Great pub with beautiful back garden”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

I had dinner here last night and cannot wait to go back. The menu is extensive and the portions are huge! The food was delicious - proper pub food freshly prepared and the chocolate brownie is to die for! Lovely smiley staff also and very good service. There is a beautiful garden in the back and a roofed terrace area with plenty of space to sit outside. I would definitely recommend to stop here for a lovely lunch in the sunshine or a cold beer after work!

“Fantastic pub, great food, lovely beer garden and really dog friendly”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

We were renting a cottage just up the road last week in June, we ended up visiting almost every day for a drink in the beer garden finishing off with dinner on our last evening. Food was fantastic (ribs, fish & chips plus ice cream) and the staff were really friendly. We had our spaniel George with us and he couldn't have been more welcomed, gravy bones heaven for him :-). Will def head back when we visit the New Forest again
