7 of us visited Bank Holiday Monday at 13:30 & pub wasn't overly busy which was great, but food was poor for the cost (£10 for chicken burger & very small bucket of chips) two side orders completely wrong, kids food was nowhere near good enough for the cost & content. Empty plates left on table throughout dessert & up until we left the place at 15:10, considering the pub was very empty by then, overall VERY dissatisfied. I would not eat there again. Shame as I live locally.

It was a busy Sunday. But the choices of the carvery were only 'okay'. I chose gammon and turkey and received just two small slices of each. Vegetables were okay, but nothing to be excited about. The one vegetarian in our party was told that he couldn't have the nut roast unless he had pre ordered it or was prepared to wait half an hour for it - as the rest of us had our carvery meal immediately he settled for just having the vegetables - hardly great value. It was a cheerful place, but I think I'd choose off the regularl menu next time

We decided to take the children out for Sunday lunch followed by a walk in the New Forest. We booked here as it had a cavery which was nice and quick. We could feed the kids and be out in 45 mins tops.
No explanation was given about the procedure when we arrived. You have to pay for your food first and then hand in a ticket to the chef who will then serve you a carvery. After a false start we sorted it all out & approached the carvery. The chef was helpful but the food was ghastly. Overcooked & fatty beef, thin gravy & mushy vegetables sitting in water. We were one of the first up so to think what it would look like after half an hour?!
Our 18 month old daughter tried to feed herself but as usual a lot went on the floor. At the end of the meal a waitress gave my partner a dustpan and brush and said "This is for you!" We would`ve minded clearing up but it wasn`t as though our daughter had slung her food everywhere. The food was directly under her highchair. Bad service and attitude.

We popped in today for a spot to eat with our toddler. The pub is very nice inside, with a lovely traditional feel. The food was very good too, my partner enjoyed carrot soup, and my bangers and mash was gorgeous. There is also a nice play area outside which is great for the little ones to burn off some energy. It is also well-located, en route to Boulton's Bench, a popular walking spot. We are hoping to make this a regular stop off now.

We arrived at the railway station and went into this hotel on a cold day. We were given a warm welcome, served hot chocolates and the barman found us the number for a local taxi firm.
