Used this place recently as a base to attend a local wedding. Did the job. Breakfasts were perfectly acceptable, did not eat any other meals, usual pub fare - always seemed busy in the evenings, almost all tourists. Rooms on the top floor have low sloping ceilings, mine had a tiny shower room (but with plentiful hot water) and are minimally furnished - the tv though was a comfort whilst hiding from the rain - the bedroom had a distinct lack of spare electrical sockets. Burley is poor on mobile reception so its a shame that the hotel does not appear to provide wi-fi in neither rooms or public areas - free or otherwise. Mineral water and toiletries were a nice touch though.

I went to The Burley Inn on 19June with my friend. We were staying at the nearby Burley Manor which was nearby and although we liked the Burley Manor we felt it lacked a little asmosphere so we walked into the village of Burley in the torrential rain and found a terrific warm and friendly welcome at the Burley Inn. From the moment we entered this charming pub we were made to feel at home and the bar staff said to relax and enjoy ourselves whether we decided to eat or just have a drink. As the menu was so good we ordered a meal and were both impressed by the quality and service - also the price! It was great to have so many decent vegetarian options (4) as where we live in South East Cornwall we normally have 1 or 2 options and they can be quite boring. The desserts were amazing - some home made puds along with luscious bought in options - all very reasonable. My friend asked if the coffee and cake was still on at £3.25 and was surprised to find it was and there were 3 options of cake one of which - the carrot cake - was superb and great value with the coffee. Again we are used to Basil Fawlty style of service in many pubs, restaurants and cafes in our own area where the staff would say "sorry that was only on in the morning"!
How great to find somewhere so reasonable and with such a high level of service.
As we finished our coffees we sat and chatted to the 3 staff on duty as the pub was not very busy (due to the inclement weather). One of them was a local lad who had worked there for a while and he had a good knowledge of all the beers from the Ringwood brewery along with a lot of info about the area in general.
The other gentleman (who worked weekends) who had given us such a welcome when we arrived in our sopping clothes, came over and said he didn't want us to think he was pushing us out but he knew we had walked from our hotel and he wanted to let us know there were no street lights in Burley. A very considerate man I felt.
As we said our goodbyes to the lovely trio of staff they were teasing each other and having a good laugh. The other staff member was a lovely girl from Dublin and she was getting ribbed about being Irish. They all obviously got on very well and worked as a team. I had also noticed that inbetween serving customers they were keeping themselves busy cleaning the bar area and polishing mirrors etc.
I asked to see the rooms and although small they seemed cosy, clean and well equipped so would certainly consider staying there when I return to the New Forest. The rates were cheaper than Burley Manor but you have to stay for a minimum of 2 nights in high season. Burley Manor has beautiful grounds where you can sit and watch the deer so it depends what you want from your stay.
Will definitely go back to Burley and the Burley Inn.

I had two nights here b and b. Beautiful location. The most helpful staff I have ever met, Nothing was too much trouble , ,even providing a late glass of milk as a nightcap . Very comfortable upstairs . ,Rooms cosy and clean , plenty of hot water. Food excellent. I Cannot say enough about how pleasant the whole hotel is.. Will sing its praises for a long time to come...Near to everything that two cyclists could ever need. I felt so much better after staying here,I cannot think of one thing that was at fault .SO WELL DONE,, all at The Burley Inn

From taking the phone booking to saying goodbye as we left after our stay. the hotel staff were lovely - welcoming, friendly, efficient and helpful. The location of the inn is ideal, and we had no problems parking right outside in the car park. It's a relaxed, welcoming, traditional place and family friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable with all facilities working as they should. The breakfast was hearty (buffet and cooked) and there was a good selection of restaurant/bar food which hit the spot after a busy activity-filled day. I could want for no more and will stay there again.
