“Very pleasant ”

After a long day in the New Forest we were looking for a nice cup of tea and a sweet treat. We were not disappointed at the Old Farmhouse. We ordered between us a cream tea, cakes and a sandwich. All were very nice and reasonably priced.

The surroundings were traditional and if over about 5'10" you will need to remember to duck when going through the doors!

We would certainly go there again.

“Substantial breakfast, good ingredients”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2014

Had a hankering for a boot filling breakfast, but was a bit late up. They however accommodated us although we were slightly beyond the breakfast time, which stops at 11am. lots of low beams, harlequin furniture - but homely and certainly cosy and comfortable. We had the largest breakfast, not paying too much attention to the menu, which was loads, and had lovely ingredients - nice to find good sausages, succulent and lean bacon, bright yoked eggs and an enormous field mushroom along with fried bread, tomato and beans - all freshly made. Complete with tea or coffee at £8.85 you may think it was in the high side, but for the quality and quantity think that is fair. Slight niggles - not a fan of tacky textured sliced white toast - very noticeable against all the other nice ingredients. Coffee ok but if it was possible to serve in a cafetiere with hot milk that would be sublime and add that extra wow factor so one could savour it with the breakfast.

“friendly atmosphere”

Visited on a quiet day and received a warm welcome. Staff attentive and helpful. Food was quickly served and very tasty. Reasonably varied menu. can recommend the ham,egg and chips, thick cut ham, hot crispy chips and eggs with runny yolk. perfect. slightly elevated prices but overall good value. worth a visit.

“Expensive...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

Dated inside, expensive for what you get - my baguette had the least amount of cheese and chutney in - so was a bit miffed for £7.
My partners jacket potato was hard and not a huge amount of topping.
Lovely mocha with marshmallows though!

“Found by accident, just beautiful ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2014 via mobile

We were staying in Burley for the night and decided to go for a walk and get dinner. We came across this hidden gem of a place and had the most amazing meal.
Very good priced and I totally recommend the beef for a main meal, just so lovely.
Puddings were amazing and very good portion sizes.
Very rom batch setting and very quiet we will be going back in the summer :-)
