We were lucky enough to visit Barton upon Humber during the heritage weekend so were able to have a very interesting tour with a local volunteer.
A very interesting church with loads of history, also a lovely building.

St Peter's church is an English Heritage site and I was just expecting an old church, but it was much more. This Anglo-Saxon church is well preserved and the space inside is amazing. The church has an exhibition charting the church's history and the boards are easy reading with the right amount to inform you but not bog you down with too much information. The church has been majorly excavated in the past and the exhibition shows the skeletons and the information that they have gained about the people who lived there by excavating the graves.
Definitely worth a visit, it was much more than I expected, but check times as it is only open on a weekend.

This church is the one that is used to date all other churches. It has been renovated and filled with interesting artefacts relating to Saxon Britain. Well worth a visit but do check opening times. English Heritage.
