Owner description: The island to the northeast of Singapore is the only place to see an example of the traditional kampong villages that once covered the city-state. It’s a go-to spot for cyclists and hikers with miles of nature trails that weave through old rubber plantations and seaside ecosystems no longer found on the main island. Get there from Changi Point Ferry Terminal via a traditional bumboat for $2.50 a seat – captains will leave only when all seats are sold or if you pay the difference.

We went to Palau ubin with my friends and had a wonderful time. We caught the boat to Pulau Ubin at cost $2.50 each way. And then, we hided bikes to explored Pulau Ubin( with 5-10$ one day). Its so interesting to explore the nature, the sight, though all of us were so tired. Then, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at a restaurant.
A great experience. This is nice place to relax for your trip !

We recently visited Singapore for 4 days and after the first day we had enough of all the flash, materialism and concrete jungle. So we very very happy that our friends suggested us to go to Pulau Ubin for a half day. We took the ferry across which was quite funny. There are no very departure times, whenever there are 12 people waiting it will leave :)
We didn't wait too long either direction. We hired some bikes on the island. We just stopped at the first bike hire place, but noticed after there are many more with newer and probably cheaper bikes as well, but it should be between $15-$25. We cycled around the whole island. We saw some wild pigs and lots of wild monkeys. There are some lakes on the island to and lots of insects and mosquitos so please remember INSECT REPELLANT.
It is stinking hot (like everywhere in Singapore) but it was nice to get out of the city and do something different. I recommend a fresh coconut before you head back.

Got bus to Changi Village Ferry and got the 10 minute boat ride over to island. We hired bicycles (lots of choice) for just 8 dollars. We cycled around the island on the paths and roads taking in the lovely scenery and sights on this jungle island with mangrove swamps. Whilst cycling besides the forests and shrubbery we saw families of wild boar, monkeys on the pathway and swinging in the trees, water monitors near the swamps and even a snake. It was a fantastic experience and most certainly one of the highlights of my holiday to Asia.

Pulau Ubin is an island just off the coast of Singapore- it's accessible by ferry from Changi Village.

What's there?

It's a remarkably unspoilt area- giving you a glimpse of life in a bygone era- that of the fishing village.

Reflecting that past, there's a reasonably priced restaurant, where they serve delicious chili crab- live from the tank- at a reasonable price.

You can hire a bicycle and cycle around the island.

There's a resort, where you can chill out and sip on a cocktail or maybe coconut milk straight from the coconut!

It's a good half day trip - for a little money and a lot of fun! And, a counterpoint to modern Singapore.

If you're looking for break from the hustle and bustle of the city then head for Paulau Ubin Island. To get there take the MRT to Tampines then the No. 29 bus to Changi Village. From there it's just a two minutes walk to the ferry terminal. The ferry costs roughly £2.50 (S$5) return for the 15 minute trip. Once there you can hire a taxi or bicycle, or simply walk around the Island using the various marked footpaths/tracks. The Island is a haven of peace and tranquillity, and looks I suspect as much as old Singapore would have looked many years ago. There are a few café’s and restaurants, but make sure you carry plenty of water.
