“A warm welcome in a beautiful place”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We had not stayed at Croit-ny-Bane before, and it was a lovely experience. A beautiful farmstead in a peaceful setting: just the sound of very well-cared-for chickens and cattle to wake you up in the morning. Our bedroom was possibly the nicest I've ever stayed in - spacious, clean, very comfortable with a wonderful bed, and views over the countryside and garden. There's a conservatory to sit in and an open, flowery garden in which to relax. I liked feeding the little Shetland pony, Laura, and meeting the sheep!

Sandra and Allan are kind, hospitable hosts - nothing was too much trouble for them. There were lots of little welcoming touches such as the Manx chocolates in the room, very big, fluffy towels, and the provision of slippers and bathrobes. Breakfast was fabulous : Sandra prides herself on her cooking and everything is locally sourced: the bacon, sausages, mushrooms and, of course, fresh, free range eggs. As a vegetarian, I felt my needs were well met.

We would definitely stay again. I just wish our stay could have been longer.

Thank you Sue, it was lovely to meet you both and so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. .it is nice that people appreciate all the work with the animals and can see farmers look after them well.
We hope to see you again next spring hopefully when we are lambing and calving.
Best wishes Sandra and Allan

We had a weekend trip at Mr & Mrs Jones Farm at the end June. We found this lovely farm B&B on the IOM official website and immediately attracted by the beautiful scene and the white farm house.
Upon our arrival, Mr & Mrs Jones gave us a warm welcome and prepared everything for us in the house. The house is even much prettier than on the picture and in a wonderful condition. The rooms are exactly look alike in the website pics (unlike some of them, looks good on the picture, but turns out to be really small).
We had the lavender room and my husband absolutely enjoyed it. The ensuite shower is a star must have, especially after a long day hiking along the coast line. The breakfast is another star feature of the stay. Mrs Jones has been really attentive and she prepared our breakfast into perfection.
We also had some quality time with Laura the little horse on the farm. She is adorable.
We definitely will recommend this lovely farm to anyone want to visit the island and have some different experience than stay in a normal hotel. And we definitely will come again!

Room Tip: Do book in advance as this little farm is petite.

It was a real pleasure to have these two young chinese couples to stay and to learn a little about their chinese culture. This was there first trip to the wonderful Isle of Man and they loved it and have said they will return. We look forward to welcoming them back. They had a little bit of confusion when they booked as this was their first stay in a bed and breakfast not a hotel and this is why they are recommending to book well in advance. We are so glad they enjoyed the experience and hope to give them the full farm tour next time ..
Best wishes and thank you for the lovely review.

Just had a wonderful 10 days at this B&B for the TT Races - it couldn't have been better! Sandra and Allen make you so welcome and it feels like being at home. A wonderful cooked breakfast plus cereal, toast and fruit - never came away from the table hungry! The standard is very high and Sandra works very hard to make sure guests are comfortable and caters to their needs, a perfectionist - cannot fault anything. Yes it is a working farm but coming from the country as a child it was lovely and a bit nostalgic - just wonderful. We will definitely recommend it and will be going back. Paul and Kim Woodruff

Thank you Kim for your kind words. We are so glad that the farm was a nostalgic trip down memory lane for you, but still a 5 star stay in our bed and breakfast. We look forward to seeing you again in 2016 Warm regards Sandra and Allan

We stayed with Sandra and Allen late May. The weather was glorious but with 'lean against' wind. Our bedroom was the upstairs gorgeous one. Sandra is most attentive, determined that everything should be near perfect for her guests, and she cooks a very nice breakfast. We loved the area - the gorse hedges at that end of the island were spectacular. We so enjoyed chatting to them both - learning lots of island history, and about the farm and their award winning herd of cattle. Sandra told us an amazing story about her favourite cow and how she survived against all odds. It was a pleasure to meet and stay with them.

Room Tip: Spacious upstairs room is lovely

Thank you Jan for your lovely comments. It was a pleasure to meet you both. There is nothing Allan and I enjoy more than talking to our guests about our wonderful island with all its secret places to explore. I try my very best to make our guests stay as special as it possibly can be, and still love meeting new people after offering bed and breakfast for 13 years. Kindest regards Sandra

We booked a visit to the IoM on a whim and saw Croit-Ny-Bane Farm on the Stay on a Farm website and booked a double room. So glad we found it. Sandra and Allan are excellent hosts and nothing is too much trouble.

Although the property is part of a working farm, it is absolutely immaculate and Sandra works hard to keep it that way. Warm, welcoming, homely and modern, there were so many things that make you feel welcome. Big fluffy towels in the bathroom, high end branded toiletries, a little guest fridge containing bottled water in the communal area and WiFi.

Breakfast was brilliant and cooked to order. I liked the opportunity to pick what I wanted to eat and Sandra always checked that we still wanted the same breakfast the following day. All the fresh food is locally sourced where possible and you can tell. This isn't breakfast on a budget.

We were very lucky to be around just at the end of lambing and calving season and there were plenty of both around. Sandra and Allan were more than happy to take us on to the farm to see the young animals up close and that was a real treat. How often do you get to bottle feed a calf? There's also a chicken run to the side of the property and just spending a few minutes watching the cockerels posturing and the hens scratching around was a treat (and the eggs were fab)

In summary, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and the 5-star status it holds from various tourist boards is well and truly deserved. Certainly hope to get the chance to visit again.

So glad the girls enjoyed their stay with us and were just lucky that it was the end of lambing and calving. Its a picture for us to see people learning our way of life "farming" and doing all the special things like bottle feeding calves and meg lambs. We are very proud to show of our stock to our guests and give them our guided tour. We hope to see the girls again soon.
Thank you for your wonderful comments.
Best wishes Sandra and Allan
