Le Domaine Du Palais Des Eveques is ideal for a stay in St Lizier and a 2 min drive from St Girons. The former palace also has a restaurant that actually boasts a vegetarian set menu!

Check in and check out was a relaxed affair.
Our accommodation was in the modern complex and was sterile and functional, with high ceilings and a lift to the 2nd and 3rd floor.

There was basic cooking facilities in the apartment but no dish towels or washing liquids to do the dishes.

The bathroom was modern but the water was only luke warm. Also, the toilet in our apartment had a lingering smell of stale cigar smoke. (Note: the manager is a cigar smoker).

The wifi signal is weak to jone existent and cell phone signal for Orange is very poor.

There is an Intermarche supermarket just 1km down the road to St Girons and a large market every Saturday in St Girons.

Having stayed in a lot of chain hotels this really was a treat- a beautiful modern appartment in a restored bishops palace set in an historic French village . Comfortable and clean and very well equipped for a very reasonable rate. Idyllic except for a couple of drawbacks- cold shower both in the evening and next morning and can't complain as reception closes from 7pm Sat and all day Sunday. No shops bars or restaurants in the village except for local hotel which served us a lovely meal. Not really a problem as long as you are aware and bring your supplies with you! Would recommend.

Views of snow covered peaks of the Pyrenees, an ancient French Village, a luxury apartment in a converted cloister. Having a cup a fragrant café while sitting in bay window seat admiring the landscape.

We arrived at the apartment on 1st November - a holiday, nothing is open. The owner was very friendly and helped us settle in. We were disappointed to have a ground floor room after e-mails from the owner had suggested we have a first floor room as the views were so fantastic, we can only imagine. The apartment was really lovely, recently refurbished and well appointed. The bathroom was spacious. The living area would have been more comfortable with a proper settee as the bed settee was very slopey and uncomfortable. The village of St Lizier was beautiful and the church lovely.
There is a restaurant just below the site of the apartments which has an amazing menu, the food was superb.
There was no hair dryer in the apartment, but the owners supplied us with one once we asked. The location was fantastic for exploring the Pyrénées,

Room Tip: Ask for a first/second floor room with a view, the views are stunning.

The historic location of Le Domaine Du Palais Des Eveques is ideal for a stay in St Lizier. In the same former Bishop's palace is the best restaurant of the region as well as the C12th cathedral and a museum which is well worth visiting. The residential complex in the former bishop's palace is the result of recent large scale renovation and building works. The apartment we stayed in was modern and functional, despite being in a 900 year old building. Other sections are in totally new buildings. Due to its size and the modern nature of the accomodation, the atmosphere of the complex can seem a little sterile and it does not have the same sort of facilities or services that you might get in a Spanish Parador hotel for example, but the location is exceptional and it represents good value. It was also useful to have the basic cooking facilities of the apartment on the Sunday night when all the restaurants are closed and there is an Intermarche supermarket just 1km down the road to St Girons. If you want be in the centre of St Lizier it is the place to stay.
