Called in before heading back home to London after visiting family in Swansea
My roast chicken was fantastic
My partner had the duck which was also delicious
Also indulged in a strawberry & ameretto ice cream sunday and at only £13.99 for two courses this is excellent value for money
Can't wait for my next Welsh trip!

I searched online for somewhere to eat after an afternoon spent in Neath; really didn't want to stay in town. The Butchers was one of a selection that looked promising but chose to stop here because it was the only one that was approximately on the route home.
It had some decent reviews but they were mostly old so we weren't expecting much.
They were fully booked but because we arrived before service started they said they could squeeze us in, very helpful. Menu is upmarket pub food without being poncey. Portions are a decent size..I had fillet medallions with some greens and had sufficient chips to share with fellow diner, who having plumped for something with rice, can't remember what, was missing his potato fix...nice handcut, thick, jenga style chips. I was expecting the steak portion to be a little bit on the small side, medallions usually turning out to be the size of 10p pieces, but it was actually on the generous side, nice and thick too and cooked perfectly.

Service was excellent, prices are a modicum higher than pub prices but I really don't mind when you've really enjoyed it.

Tempted to make it a regular stop off after our Neath fixture....better book next time though.

Recommended by a work colleague earlier this year, this has since become one of my favourite places to eat in Swansea. The Pig in a Pond is exceptional: slow roast pork belly with garlic king prawns and cockles. The Surf and Turf starter, black pudding and smoked salmon version of eggs benedict, was genius. Not usually a pudding person, sharing the assiette of desserts was too tempting to miss: mini pot au chocolate; white chocolate cheesecake and tarte au citron.

Fine dining in an informal setting. The presentation of the food is beautiful, but more important is the flavour. The best meal I have had in a restaurant in the past few years.

Wife and I attended on the recommendation of friends, we were not disappointed. Good service, nice clean pub. Toilets very clean (always a good sign).
The food was exceptional; quality produce excellently cooked. Would recommend and will definitely go again.
