“Lovely house in the middle of a jungle lot.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2013

This was a great place to spend our last couple of nights in Costa Rica. Surrounded by Jungle with Howler Monkeys, Sloths, and a few cool spiders ( non-poisonous and not aggressive) it was wonderful. Laying on the hammock in the evening listening to the sounds of the jungle was sooo relaxing. The interior of the single home has two bed rooms, an open living area with a kitchen, and a lovely bath with a super shower. The hosts Michael and Patricia are great with communication and were very nice to work with. Manzanillo is a short 10 minute walk with the beach right there. Maxi's in town was a nice restaurant to eat at.

All in all, I would highly recommend this for anyone travelling to the Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo area!

By the way, Michael offered a USB wireless connection if you have your laptop!

I stayed here with 2 friends for three nights and just loved it. The rooms are basic but clean and airy with comfortable beds and an ample supply of hot water. The central area of the accomodation has a well equiped kitchen and comfortable sofas. We were awoken by the howler monkeys in the morning, saw beautiful butterflys, toucans and a sloth, the sea and the small village centre are a few minutes walk away. The owners are helpful and friendly. I didn't want to leave.

We spent a fantastic two weeks at casa Faya Lobi and really weren't ready to leave. The owners, Michael and Patricia, are just great. Super nice people who live behind the house and are available for questions or to offer knowledge of the area but are also super respectful of your privacy.

The house itself is located just a two or three minute walk from the beach and there are a few local Sodas, markets, an ice cream shop that also has wonderful sandwiches, Maxi's Restaurant and Funky Manza pizza, which was our favorite place to eat in town.

The house is very cool, with a covered, open air kitchen/living area and four bedrooms upstairs, each with their own bathroom/shower. The kitchen is basic but totally serviceable, with a small sink for washing up, a refrigerator and a propane set of burners. Pots, pans, dishes, etc.... are all provided as well. The living area is comfortable and being open air it almost feels like you're living in a tree house in the jungle.

During the day the garden is alive with birds, at night there are frogs and geckos singing away to keep you company. It really is a great spot.

Being in the village you'll run into the locals every day, which is great, and Faya Lobi gives you the experience of living in the town as opposed to being a tourist passing through. If you're looking for the all-inclusive experience, this probably isn't it, but if you enjoy a real home-away-from-home feel that is part of the daily life of a small town but still removed and private you'll love it.

Be sure to book a tour of the jungle (we used Omar Cook Campbell and he was fantastic) or just walk along the beach and explore.

There are also tons of great dining options between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the trip was how good the dining options were in the area. We really enjoyed the Puerto Viejo Bakery, Bread and Chocolate coffee house, Selvins restaurant, Pita Bonita and Stashus con Fusion.

Perhaps the best praise I can give is that I wouldn't have changed a thing about our stay and I can't wait to go back.

I, my husband and our two little daughters stayed at Faya Lobi for 6 nights and finally found ourselves happy and at peace in Costa Rica. It was a life saver after our "Pachamama trauma" in Punta Uva which we originally chose!

It is a beautiful home perfect for any one looking for comfortable, clean, well maintained accommodation in Manzanillo. It is a really good value for the price, the best one we had found in the area.

The house is equipped with everything you might need and the owners are extremely helpful and accommodating. The beach, jungle trails and sodas are in close proximity. The nature is basically in your bedroom (night jungle noises are amazing and so are the views) so be prepared to get a wake up call from the monkeys and birds.

It is a rental house, so do not expect daily maid service unless you wish to pay extra.

Thank you very much! We shall be back!

We stayed at faya lobi's private jungle house called Jungle dreamz (its on the website)
Its a two bedroom house with kitchen, shower/washroom, deck with picnic table and hammock.
Its set in a beautiful jungle garden and you get to wake up to howler monkeys! I would highly recommend this peaceful place in Manzanillo. We stayed for 5 nights and didn't want to leave.

I spent New Years Eve at Faya Lobbi with 8 cousins/friends. It could not have been better! Each room has its own bathroom so you have enough privacy for everyone. The common area is super comfortable, nice chairs, a TV, and a well-equipped kitchen with all you need. There were extra towels and sheets if we needed them. And it is in walking distance to the amazing Manzanillo beach. If you have a car you can be in Puerto Viejo in 10 minutes, but with the beauty of Manzanillo, we didn't want to move out from the peaceful Manzanillo town. Plus the owners are super cool people! This was my second time in Faya Lobi, but the first time for the rest of my friends, and I can say that all of them were very pleased with Faya Lobi as well. We are all Costa Ricans and have visited many other beaches in the country before, but Manzanillo is one of our favorite areas and also can say Faya Lobi is one of the best places we've stayed at for vacation at the beach. Completely recommended! Pura vida!

Good and bad here.
The bad: We never had anyone change our sheets for 5 days and we had to empty our own waste baskets for those 5 days. No screens on 2nd floor smallish room and no ceiling fan. Two senior Canadian couples who came down there together were no longer speaking to each other.
The good: For $30 US: Very big common area with a shared full size fridge, stove, food prep area, sink. Lots of comfortable chairs in the common area and pretty plants along driveway. Parrots and toucans flying around. Sleep was delicious under the well done mosquito netting. One of the older Canadian guys looked and acted like Harpo Marx. He was so animated and barely whispered--very fun to be around.
Saw a room at Cabinas Bucus down the street and talked to the cool owner there. The ground floor rooms there were newly tiled with screens and ceiling fans. They had a fridge and a very small area for food prep. For the same $30 US, it was much nicer, unless you plan on making your own meals.
