We stayed at Dolphin Bay for seven nights in February, and had a truly awesome vacation! The location is perfect - remote enough to escape the city life, but not too difficult to travel to. We had an overnight in Panama City before flying to Bocas del Toro the next morning, where we were met by a smiling Jose at the airport. A quick boat ride away was Dolphin Bay, and a warm welcome from Erika and other staff and family members made us feel right at home!

The accommodations at Dolphin Bay Hideaway were absolutely beautiful. We were able to stay in the Bay View Room for all seven nights, and it was definitely one of the best places we've ever stayed. Not only was the room impeccably clean, but small touches such as fresh flowers and a basket of snacks made it extra charming. The food was also amazing - as a picky eater I can honestly say everything was delicious, and the staff was very accommodating to dietary concerns/preferences/etc. I highly recommend the 'Panama-style' pancakes at breakfast!

The excursions offered at Dolphin Bay are truly unique and amazing experiences. Because we were there for a week, we were able to take part in nearly all of the excursions. The beaches were breathtaking - in particular Zapatilla, which we visited twice because it was so remote and beautiful. We also thoroughly enjoyed the various snorkeling spots that Jose took us to, as well as the impromptu fishing adventures! I recommend popping a Gravol before the trip to Bird Island - but well worth the trip to see this beautiful and unique island (again, we went to see it twice!). Red Frog Beach is definitely worth doing, although it was the most 'touristy' place we visited. We really enjoyed the Ziplining Canopy Tour - very safe, beautiful views, and the guides are hilarious.

Overall, this was by far our best vacation to date, and we have the people at Dolphin Bay to thank for that. We can't say enough about this wonderful and relaxing place, and can't wait to go back some day!

Room Tip: Bay View Room was large, private, and cool at night.

I stayed 3 nights in this beautiful lodge and enjoyed every minute of it. The location is spot on for relaxing and appreciating the gorgeous surroundings. Erika is an excellent host and the care and effort she has put into this hideaway truly makes it a wonderful place to stay. Great food, a comfy bed, dolphin spotting and plenty of hammocks means its good value for money. Thanks for looking after us!

Dolphin Bay Hideaway is a rare jungle lodge, overlooking the multifaceted Ecosystems of mangroves with ocean views. We were lucky to have time to return for our second visit to this delightful lodge. The rooms are comfortable, well appointment, and impeccably clean. WiFi is available. The food is great, prepared by friendly indigenous staff, Panamanian style or special requests such as vegetarian. We decide on this trip to take the Cacau Tour at the Cerruti’s Chocolate Farm. As we crossed Dolphin Bay, we could see dolphins, and while resting at the dock, we saw a sting ray jump out of the water! Then we began our tour with an incredible array of flora, fauna, cacau trees, including cacao processing methods. The Cerruti’s sell their product in Bocas Town, but we were able to buy the pure Cacau for cooking and cacao nibs for souvenirs. After the tour, we were taken to a nearby thatched roof restaurant owned by Austrians called, Rana Azul. The owners open on Sundays at noon, serving everything from stone oven pizza, to Austrian specialties, including a salad bar with incredibly large mojitos! Nothing could surpass this tour or our stay at Dolphin Bay Hideaway!

Room Tip: Take advantage of tours from this off the beaten track location!

On our first trip to Central America, we started off our adventure about 30 minutes from Bocas town. We were not sure what to expect but Erica and Jose made our stay one to remember! Small and tucked away, this beautiful spot is simple and serene. The rooms were very clean and we had our own private bath. There was a full pitcher of bottled water and snacks in our rooms daily, along with beautiful fresh flowers. Erica is a wonderful cook and provided breakfast and dinner for us. She took the perfect combination of eclectic world flavors and infused it with traditional Panamanian flavors at each meal. Fresh fruit was in abundance! They offered a variety of excursions for us to enjoy. We did the boat trip to Isla Zapatillos with Jose - it was a blast and we loved the beautiful beaches and stops along the way (snorkeling, tiki bar). Jose made sure we had plenty of beer for the ride there and back! We also visited the cacao farm and loved learning about the farm and the awesome couple that lived there (from San Diego originally). We enjoyed spending time with the other guests that were there during our stay but were able to relax and explore or just sit and read if that's what we wished to do. Sweetie especially enjoyed relaxing next to us on the downstairs porch. We wished we could stay longer!

Room Tip: There is one room that is small and would be perfect for one person or the kids to share! All the ot...

This beautiful B&B is perfect for those who want to get away from it all. It's exotic, secluded, natural, immaculate. The owners and staff are wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Natalie was our captain for our boat trip to Parque Nacional Marino Isla Bastimentos, which was absolutely perfect. Dolphin Bay Hideaway is set on a hillside among a small indigenous village. Stay here if you want to get away from the daily grind, if you want to learn more about indigenous tribes of Panama, if you want to learn Spanish (the staff are very helpful!) or if you're looking for adventure. Don't stay here if you're looking for wild bars and nightlife. No TVs here, no phones, but they do have great WiFi. I can't say enough about this spectacular little secret.

Room Tip: The whole place is beautiful. We're staying in the Bay View room, which is their largest.

My wife and I loved it here so much that we decided to stay a day longer than we originally planned. The house is stunning and well done, perched on a hill overlooking the bay. Our room was gorgeous, with dark wood and a very nice bathroom. The open common area, with comfortable seating and hammocks, is a great place to enjoy the view or read a book. The dock is perfect for the same or for taking a nap in the afternoon when the house is too warm. The grounds are really nice too, with lots of different animals roaming around (chickens, dogs, cows).

Erika and Jose were lovely hosts. Erika always found time to chat with us which we really appreciated. Their kids are adorable and though we didn't mind them at all, Erika made sure they gave us some space.

The meals and drinks were excellent. Our only suggestion would be to offer a bread basket or fruit with dinner as we were sometimes still hungry.

The Hideaway is highly secluded, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing place to be. We recommend taking the canoe out to find dolphins and making friends with Mickey, their resident parrot.

We hope to be back one day!

Sometimes you stumble upon a place you will never forget. This hotel is one of those places. If you want to experience the tranquility and the sounds of the jungle, with dolphins swimming in the bay just outside the hotel, this is the place for you. On top of that, you get the friendliest staff and the best food in Panama (we spent 3 weeks in Panama and Costa Rica, and it was by far the best food we had on our vacation). We have travelled quite a lot all over the world and it's rare to encounter the kind of service and caring that you get here. We have so many nice things to say about this place and we can't mention them all. However, we just have to mension the owner, Erika. Everyday, she was dedicated to meet our needs, and did far more than expected to help us when we got in a little bit of distress due to a strike in Panama with road blocks and a closed border, making it difficult for us getting in to Costa Rica. Erika - you're a jewel!
