Located 2 and a half hours from Sydney it is a great stop over point for a weekend. Taralga was a mcArthur settlement of the 1800's so stone buildings quant streets are the norm.
Just 40 ks from Goulburn you can head to anywhere it is on the oberon road Wombean Caves are just up the road. Laggan village is another must do 20 ks south, the Laggan Hotel is a must do as it is a page torn from time.
Crookwell is of the same era as Taralga but twice the size and is on the back road to Canberra or Melbourne via Yass re informing the notion of a great area to break the trip down the Ho Hum Highway from Sydney to Melbourne (Hume Hwy).
