I did not stay here, but took advantage of discount vouchers for their "Classic" afternoon tea. This was served in the ancient stone-walled lounge, with roaring fire and comfortable sofas. There was a wide range of closed sandwiches, plus freshly-baked scones, jam and cream, followed by cakes. Tea was served in a large pot. All this was served with a smile by our waiters. A very pleasant experience and very good value at £7.50 per person (normal price).

We've stayed here before and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, but it was VERY quiet for Christmas and very little attempt to decorate such a stately house. Resident's bar closed 3pm on Christmas Day and no entertainment at all. however our studio apartment was great and we'd had an excellent lunch at Thurnham Mill Hotel just down the road when couldn't get fitted in at the Hall. That said, we'd still go back as a magnificent place and great for walks. Can also book your dog in for kennels at farm just down the road.

We recently had our wedding at Thurnham Hall. We could not fault the restaurant, bowland village inn staff and food because all of the was amazing. We had a wonderful wedding and the whole organisation and day was great. However, we were extremely disappointed with our accommodation. All of our wedding party had lovely rooms in the main building that they had booked at very reasonable prices on booking.com (£40) My dad had paid for a two night stay for us via diamond resorts early in the year at an expensive cost. ( Over £200) We had a big apartment some distance away from the main hall space wasn't a problem but the whole place could have benefitted from refurbishment. The bathrooms needed upgrading as did the decor. Then we had two single beds pushed together. It was just disappointing for our wedding night. Because we were so wrapped up in our day the master if ceremony checked us in. He did an amazing job all day. By the time we got to our room we were too exhausted to make a fuss and to be honest did not want to put a spanner in the works when we were so engrossed in enjoying our wedding celebration. I have tried to look for an email address but can't find one. It has disappointed me especially seeing what amazing rooms our guests got for a bargain. They were outstanding!!

We are aware and fully appreciate how important your wedding celebrations and wedding night is for you and although we are delighted to read that you were satisfied with the organisational side of things, the standard of your restaurant meal and your guests' apartments, the most important room - yours - was not entirely to your liking. We apologise profusely for this oversight and would encourage you to contact us directly on CustomerServiceSM@diamondresorts.com so that we can investigate this further. We are do hope that you enjoyed yourselves and will have lasting great memories of this special day. We wish you all the best!

My wife, myself and 5 friends spent New Year's Eve at Thurnham Hall for the meal and celebrations. Up until about 12:30 the night had been good. The food was nice with good size portions and service. Likewise the DJ was entertaining, although the "dance floor" was shoehorned into a bay window adjacent to the bar and passageway into an adjoining dining room.
After welcoming in the New Year and dancing for a while we returned to our table to find that it had been dismantled, the ladies' purses and bags dumped on the floor/ chairs and our drinks stacked in the corner of a table across the room, unfortunately missing the 2/3 of a bottle of wine that we had left. When we brought these problems to the attention of the staff, they were rude, abrupt and basically would not acknowledge our complaints.
To add insult to injury, the staff had managed to spill candle wax down the front of mine and my friends coats. In fairness to the supervisor, she offered to pay for dry cleaning if we emailed the receipt through to her, however getting her email address was like getting blood from a stone, and whether we receive a reimbursement will remain to be seen.
While we were discovering these issues the DJ announced "last orders" and started to wrap up the disco - this was about 12:45. We were shocked because all of the information we had seen about the night indicated that the finishing time would be 1:30am i.e. "Carriages at 1:30am". Perhaps I've got it wrong but whenever I've seen that phrase before it has indicated the disco finishes at 1:30 ish so book your transport for then- which we had. When we asked the staff about why this was now the finishing time they were again rude and dismissive, even when my friend showed them their website advertisement on her phone.
Being New Year's Eve there was no possibility if rearranging our taxi. We were then left with 3/4's hour to kill while the staff dismantled more tables and swept up around us.

What a disappointing end to what had started as a good night!

First visit to Thurnham Hall. We went with 2 other couples and stayed in lodges 48, 49 and 50. The lodges consist of an open plan kitchen, sitting area and bed, with a spacious bathroom. Our lodges were located furthest from the main hall but this is only a few minutes walk away. We had booked a party night which included a three course meal and a disco which was held in the library. Everyone in the party had chosen different meals and everyone agreed that for the price the food was very good. We retreated to the bar after eating and sat in front of the huge fireplace to enjoy our coffee and mince pies. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you. We got a great deal and only paid £50 for the lodge. Would we stay there again, most definitely.

Room Tip: Room 12 situated by main hall.

Visited Thurnham Hall for a weekend break recently and stayed in one of the lodges which offered superb accommodation. At the time of our visit the swimming pool was out of action undergoing some upgrade work which I am sure will improve the facility. The surrounding area is good for walking and very close to Lancaster, some interesting villages and coast line for anyone interested in bird watching. I did find the hall and bar area disappointing on my one and only visit but with the comfort of the lodge it did not take the shine of a very nice break

We purchased timeshare here back in 1999, at that time it was a wonderful place full of happy residents sitting in the hall all chatting about their timeshare experiences . We got to know all the staff , you were always made to feel really special.
We have been many times since , sometimes just for the day as we only an hour away, and had some really good times.
However they have well gone now , we went up for the weekend and oh what a disappointment :-(
The grounds are in a terrible state, yes there are refurbs going on but surely the dead leaves could at least have been raked up and taken to compost! We couldn't even get into our apartment for them they were piled up ! Having a walk around lots of scruffy looking tired paintwork.
We checked into number 20, stayed in many of them but not this one,not impressed, tired furniture, strange to have tv right up to the oven, fridge and freezer were opening the wrong way in respect of kitchen layout.
As for the bedroom ! Very comfy bed but whoever designed layout!! ( see photos ) no chair to sit and do hair etc and to dry hair .... Well no sockets below the mirror so had to plug in supplied hair dryer in nearest socket which was by the door! Could only see half of my head and hubby couldn't come in as wire stopped door opening.
Then we strolled over to the hall for a meal, not a soul in site, both restaurants empty, "can we eat"? Oh no we are too busy! You can eat in the hall? No I don't want to thanks ,ok for afternoon tea but I could not have eaten my main meal bent over a coffee table. Ah well did us a favour really as had a fantastic meal at The Stork.
To be honest if you were booking a deal on groupon, Expedia etc etc you would think it was wonderful but as we paid a heck of a lot of money to be in what should still be an exclusive club, timeshare is now dead.
Luckily due to ill health we have now been able to relinquish our points so now we can join the "deal" hunters instead of paying maintenance every year.

We are very sorry that you were disappointed with your most recent visit to Thurnham Hall. The resort has an ongoing programme of refurbishment, which includes rejuvenation of both the accommodation and external areas of the resort, and we regret that it was not possible to allocate a refurbished apartment for you on this occasion.

We hope that your disappointment has not dissuaded you from giving Thurnham Hall another chance in the future, and we feel sure that if you do choose to return here, your experiences will exceed your expectations.
