I purchased a £59 kgb deal for two people for two nights including breakfast so can't really grumble. We were in a double room which was small but adequate but the bathroom was miniscule with the wash basin being about the size of a teacup. We met another couple there who were also on the kgb deal and they had a huge room so I guess we were just unlucky. On the plus side, the bed was extremely comfortable and we had two excellent nights sleep.

The breakfast on both days was plentiful, freshly cooked to order and delicious but took an age to serve. We didn't eat there in the evenings but the other couple did,on both nights, and said is was good pub grub but they had waited an hour each time.

Everyone we met was exteremely friendly and it seemed a very friendly village so would recommend anyone to visit.

Room Tip: We were in room 1 which was small but adequate so ask for a different room if you want more space...

My husband and I have just spent 2 nights here this weekend Friday 12th and Saturday 13th April, 2013. The pub is a lovely friendly place, the food we had was absolutely faultless and such good value for money. On Friday night they had a group on which was such good entertainment and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away and will definitely be coming back. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

The Black Bull is a great place to eat, I havent stayed there as we have a caravan on the nearby caravan park but regulary go here for food and drinks AND my dog is always made welcome too , he coseys down in front of the log burner on the tiled floor ( great fo messy dogs and walkers boots) . The food is made fresh on the premises hence why it takes time to be delivered. Mandy is a fantastic host as are the other staff too. Wenesday lunch is great value for money but as it is auction day in the town it gets packed out with farmers so dont be expecting 'fast food' cause you wont get it.
There is even a posh dining night once a month with a great selection of fine dining food on these special nights.
Every other monday is jazz night where local jazz bands play and Mandy offers special discount menu.
All in all a great place to visit and a warm welcome you will recieve .

We went here on Sunday for lunch with the family (7 in total) and we were booked in at 12.30pm. To cut a long story short - We ordered our food around 12.45pm and did not get the food until 2pm. Not once did the staff come and apologise or update us on when our food would be ready - it was not even busy and we were made to feel that it was out fault because we ordered different things from the menu - three had Sunday roast and four had off the menu but we were told "it is because you ordered differently". At 1.40pm we had to ask the lady who was working behind the bar when it would be ready and were told they were just starting making it and it would be ready in 20 minutes!!! Again, no apology, just told it was because we ordered differently. In addition to the Sunday roast we ordered a ham sandwich, vegetable wrap, steak and a surf and turf combo. When the food did arrive it was ok but certainly would not go back after this experience. I do not mind waiting for food but some communication would have been helpful and at a minimum, an apology.

My Boyfriend and I, with my little dog stayed at the Black Bull fro a long weekend and had a brilliant time. The owners created a very relaxing and accomatating enviroment. They were brilliant about my dog staying and I never felt he wasn't welcome in an part of our stay. The village is so very quaint and has eveything you could ask for, with beautiful walks all around. The icing on the cake was the food........it was top notch, and the breakfast is 2nd to none and was the perfect start to the day.

We will definately be re-visiting and I would advise anyone who is looking for a relaxing weekend with beautiful surrounding and friendly, accomadating people, this is your place.

We have just had 2 lovely nights stay at The Black Bull in High Bentham, Yorkshire. The room we had (No 3) was big, clean and with a TV and welcome tray, the bathroom was absolutely huge, again very clean and lots of attention to detail - even had candles!!
We ate in the pub and the food was good and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was really good, plenty of choice and plenty to eat!!!
The pub was pretty quiet, as was the village, but it was a great base for exploring. We went to Kirkby Lonsdale, Settle, Kendal and Windermere, all within easy reach of the pub.
A really nice stay.

Room Tip: Room 3 has a fabulous bathroom!!

We stayed Friday and Saturday night, had 2 evening meals which were superb, and 2 breakfasts which kept us going till the evening. All the staff were only too happy to help with anything, and as for the beds, they were so comfortable it was just like being at home. A spacious car park meant we had no problems parking the car. We would highly recommend this hotel.
