“Lovely, traditional English Inn”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

Had a one night stay here visiting my daughter at the nearby University and it was excellent. The room was described as a "small double" but it was plenty spacious enough and was beautifully decorated. The bathroom was compact but not a problem and the bed was very comfortable.

The Inn itself is full of character, staffed by friendly, helpful people and offers a good selection of both food and drink. The restaurant had a good range of meals to suit all tastes and I thoroughly enjoyed my homemade venison burger. Breakfast was served in the bar area and can best be described as “hearty”!

This Inn is situated on a quiet crossroads amongst some lovely countryside yet only a few minutes from the Uni / Lancaster and the M6. I would be more than happy to stay here again should I be visiting the area or for a longer period on holiday.

We spent 3 nights at the Fleece Inn and we were accompanied by our dog, who was made just as welcome as we were. Our room had everything you would expect, including tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, and even make up remover pads! The ensuite was modern and beautifully clean and was well equipped with toiletries. The food at the Fleece was excellent. The very generous full English breakfast was enough to set you up for the rest of the day, and in the evening the meals were first class yet by no means expensive. The staff wre all very friendly and helpful, and in the evening it was lovely to be able to go down and sit in the bar next to a blazing open fire. All in all, this was a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a warm, hospitable inn with bags of old worlde charm and character, and the inn's location makes it an ideal base for touring the Forest of Bowland, the Ribble Valley. the Fylde Coast and Lancaster and Morecambe.

Myself and my wife stayed for one night 1st September. The pub itself is very cosy with a relaxing atmosphere and a great selection of beers and spirits. The weather was nice so we had a drink in the garden area which again is lovely. Our room was cosy and comfortable with lots of character and clean. We decided to book a table for our evening meal and the menu selection had a wide choice for all. The food was lovely, well presented and the staff very helpful. I would recomend their wine list which had a varied selection at very good prices and better than most I have stayed at. I would recomend others to stay at this Inn either for a meal or for a overnight stay.

I booked to stay at The Fleece Inn as a treat for my husbands birthday on Saturday the 25th August 2012, we were made to feel very welcome. Our bedroom (room 3) was lovely and cosy with lots of little touches. The bar area is very welcoming and cosy with candles on all the tables that were lit all day. Very popular place to eat and drink and I would recommend booking a table in advance even if staying over night. The food was excellent and well presented. The owners and staff were very friendly and always smiling. Looking forward to going again for Sunday lunch

What a fantastic pub. Although we did not stay over night we had an excellent afternoon having lunch. First Class service, excellent menu and people who know how to make you feel welcome. We stopped in here for Sunday lunch and had a fantastic experience. Lovely home cooked local food just as it should be. Such a great pub in superb surroundings. We can't wait to come back and stay for a long weekend. This is how village Inn's should be! A big thanks to all who made our short stay an afternoon to treasure. Mr&Mrs Moore (Blackburn Lancs)

For £60 for 2 including breakfast, this is a bargain. Character rooms, cleaner than your average pub B&b, large range at breakfast (including smoked salmon, kippers, full English, cereals with fruits, fresh juice, bodum coffee), real ales in the pub, pub food that is way above average and puts chains to shame (homemade chicken kiev and oven baked salmon with pesto crust), and clean baby chair with even a few little toys to keep them amused... this place exceeded my expectations. An easy 5m drive from the M6 in a quiet location. Only worry I have about recommending it is that it might be full next time I am driving up to Scotland from London!
