“Rooms and driver service”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

Visited on 28,29 & 30 oct 2013. Place is wonderful but rooms have openings at top and below door from where Snails, caterpillars and insects enter and bite you, thank God snake did not come. I had rashes due to caterpillar bite which was moving on my bed. Driver facility is very poor and Danny was Harsh on driver. Food was very good Thanks to Ravi Roy and others in Restaurant. After paying for driver package Dany collected Rs 500 more for food which he had not intimated. No hot water round the clock and water was so muddy that you will be cleaner if you do not take bath. Nothing is good except food and location.T.K.Prabhakar Mob 09845294477 Bangalore

Room Tip: Look for rooms without inlet for insects. Ask in detail Mr. Dany how much one has to pay before hand...

Been here a couple of times with different sets of people. Visited twice will surely mean i did love this place.
Now let me start from the beginning. Reached here after an overnight journey and were greeted by the manager once Mr Danny and the other time Mr Hari and directed to our rooms with no delay whatsoever.. After the much needed rest we decided to visit the water fall within the property. The staff not only warned us about the leeches but Mr Hari came with a bottle of dettol and left it with us so that none of us panic at any time. Its a small gesture but still goes a long way in terms of hospitality.
Talking about the location greenery all around will make any city person melt!! The water fall and a trek in the coffee plantation well that is more than i need when it comes to enjoying the nature and for anyone else who would like a couple of great pics for their Facebook account :):)
Rooms were neat, clean, large and really well furnished. Each room had a tv so those with a list of favorite shows won't be disappointed either.
The restaurant food was something i liked a lot. The staff over there truly hospitable again. I did feel for once that the food was a touch overpriced but then i may pay the same price or a bit more to eat the same kind of food in the city. so taking into the point the cost they incur in getting the raw materials to the place and the preparing them i would say the price was on par.
Played a couple of games at the place to burn a bit of fat I incurred by eating a lot..
The staff could be contacted at any moment as Danny had handed over the few numbers to contact and they did respond immediately. The rest of the staff who you do happen to run into while walking around the place would always have a smile on the face which does make anyone on a holiday feel good.
Would i like to visit this place again?? Oh yes i would love to and spend more time with them.

A big Thank You to the Misty Woods team for the fantastic experience.

Good location and scenic views. Lots of birds. Natural waterfall within the property (beware of leeches on the way :) ).

However, rooms are average. Blankets, pillows smell bad.
Food options are limited and the quality can be better.

Wonderful place located in the middle of a forest, amidst nature. Very scenic and idyllic. Misty woods is an ideal place if you want to leave the civilization aside and want to live with, in nature. Very peaceful and becautiful. The resorts are very comfortable and the staff are very hospitable and helpful with everything. We have already been here twice and would love to come back again to spend some more time. Dany the manager and all other staff are very firendly, smiling and approachable with anything you require. The resort as such is closer to other attractions in Coorg such as the raja waterfall, Nalkand palace, Raja's seat, Tala Cauvery etc. A wonderful get away and a beautiful experience.

Room Tip: Teak and ebony rooms are very good.

Located opposite the Nalkand palace and very close to the forest, the place is scenic and blends with nature. A Perfect weekend destination if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and bond with nature (and yet be comfortable and pampered). Roads are great except for few small stretches which are bad (I'm used to the Bangalore roads, so I’m a pro at negotiating bad roads).

Even though we reached at an odd time, the staff was courteous and helpful – wiped sleep off their eyes and greeted us and helped with our luggage. We booked the fairy tale cottage which had a veranda, big room with a cosy double bed, a bunk room with a small bed to enjoy the view, a large bathroom (missed a tub though), cupboards, dressing mirror/table, chairs & coffee table – and a great view! Listening to the sound of the waterfall and other sounds of the birds/animals calms you down and helps you rest your mind after the long drive from Bangalore. The view is simply mesmerising. Sit at the veranda with your morning cuppa, enjoying the early morning view of the waterfall and the misty valley/hills coupled with the singing of the birds – bliss!!
Breakfast was bread butter jam, juice eggs, dosa, idly, uthappam and that’s all I could have – was awesome.
Since we had trek/off-road/blend with nature as our agenda, that’s exactly what we did. Since we had told them in advance about our agenda/expectation, the owners were kind enough to prepare for and take us on a trail that was not treaded much (they had done a pilot trip to ensure thrill & safety – which was evident from the way they were prepared with advice and gear) – added to our thrill! As we kept going from one place to the other enjoying the trek (up the 2nd highest peak in Coorg) and our OTR experience, we decided to cancel our lunch plan and just keep going and going and going. By the time we got back, tired but enthralled, it was almost 7pm. Freshened up, had dinner and quietly retired for the day. The next morning we walked up to the waterfall for some natural massage under the ice cold waterfall and then did some walking around the property capturing the scenic beauty of the misty valleys the place in general. There was a lake next to the property where I wanted to take a dip and do some fishing fun as well, but due to lack of time I had to cancel that plan – but I’m definitely coming back to do that and much more of exploring around! Then came the lunch – we wanted local cuisine. Soup, Kadumbuttu, coorg pork curry, akki roti, chicken curry, payasam... I think I over ate but do not regret that – my mouth is still watering!

The property was well kept and so were the rooms. Small details like keeping a water purifier in each room, pleasant room fragrances and lighting, a small bunk room on top to enjoy the view, etc is very thoughtful.

Had a great time with the cousin gang. A big Thank You to the Misty Woods team for the fantastic experience - we are definitely coming back for more!

PS:
- Pls carry a bottle of Dettol – best to get leeches off while trekking/wandering around during rainy season.
- Pls expect to see frogs, lizards and other insects, depending on the season, while walking around the place – remember you are close to the jungle and the wild, and we are visitors in their habitat! If you cannot appreciate all these, stay in the city and take a room at a 5-star! However, I did not find any insects inside the room - in fact the rooms are neat, clean and well furnished.
- Tell them what you expect and you will be amazed as to how they help you have your fun.

Misty Woods was truly a beautiful experience. Like the name suggest, it is a complete package with Mother Nature untouched and at its best :) Welcomed with warmth, a friendly smile and a wave of hospitality is add-on to the stay! This is a place for all the nature lovers who want a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. A well maintained facility :) A salute to the builders who have brought this place up without disturbing Mother Nature :)
