“Great B&B, excellent for cyclists”
Reviewed June 10, 2013 via mobile

After a great, if tiring day spent cycling with friends, we arrived at Challan Hall to a wonderfully warm welcome. We were shown to our rooms - very clean and comfortable - before being served tea and homemade shortbread and banana loaf on the patio in the evening sunshine. The views over a nature reserve are splendid.

Charlotte recommended pubs in Arnside for an evening meal - if you're lucky with the weather, eating outside The Albion on the promenade, over-looking the river estuary and Morecambe Bay will be very difficult to beat!

We had four bikes and secure storage was not a problem.

Breakfast was also served on the patio - the food selection and presentation were excellent. Portions were generous and there was a never ending supply of toast and a bottomless pot of tea! Michael was very attentive without being at all over bearing

As mentioned above, the rooms were very comfortable - not modern or boutique, but in keeping with the style of the house. Because we were in a group of four, we didn't mind sharing a bathroom, but this might not be ideal for everyone.

In summary, a excellent B&B with very considerate and welcoming hosts. No hesitation in highly recommending Challan Hall. Thanks for a great stay.

Very welcoming and friendly. We arrived with a large boat and trailer somewhat the worse for wear.
Hugely helpful sorting out the very necessary tyre change. We even discovered we both had pictures by the same artist!
Most interesting part of Lancashire and,
but for our unwieldy appendage, we would have loved to stay longer and explore.
Thoroughly recommend Challan Hall .

Travelled up from Essex with my daughter and after an ice cream in the sun at Arnside we drove the short distance to be met by Charlotte & her husband@ Challan Hall; the perfect hosts. Having a nice cup of tea on the patio we both managed to relax very quickly after our long journey and started to appreciate the beautiful views and the peace and quiet that surrounded us.
The two twin rooms we occupied were very comfortable, the tea/coffee etc plus the toiletries provided were appreciated. I managed to resist the chocolates!!!
The evening meal was very nice especially the sticky toffee pudding which has to be the best we have ever tasted - it was delicious. Breakfast was very good, choices from fresh fruit, yogurts, cereal, cooked breakfast and I really enjoyed the fresh ground coffee served with hot milk (without having to request it!!)
This B&B ticked all the boxes for both myself and my daughter we hope to visit again in the future.

Room Tip: Sleeping in a single bed took a little while to adjust to fear of falling out I think!!! After a sho...

After numerous visits from 2008-10 could Challan Hall still be our favourite Bed and Breakfast in the North West? ABSOLUTLEY! Mike and Charlotte are great hosts, the accommodation is very comfortable and the breakfast is superb. The views from the very relaxing lounge over Hawswater are really special and "invite" all those interested in the countryside......especially birds, butterflies and wildflowers....to explore Gaitbarrows National Nature Reserve [on the "doorstep"] and the nearby RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss. Even though we now live in Cumbria we will still come back.

Room Tip: Both main rooms are very comfortable. One has a seperate bathroom...with bath. The other an ensuite...

We had a 2 day walk through the area with an overnight stay at Challan Hall. We had a wonderful warm welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highlights were the interesting decor, embellishments and items of curiosity not to mention the superbly comfortable bed and very tasty breakfast. All in all 5 stars plus! We recommend it. Very friendly owners and a slightly quirky feel add the icing on the cake! Will & Sally H.

We we were a party of four - two brothers and their wives, staying near Silverdale for a book launch and a golden wedding anniversary - two family events. I have to say that we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again when we next visit our family. All the things that make you relax and enjoy yourself were there, a welcome, warmth, comfort, a very clean environment, an excellent breakfast each morning, a pot of tea and cake in the family sitting room and friendly hosts. The house is situated in an area of special scientific interest, a beautiful area, particularly good for bird watchers.

Room Tip: We had the room with a separate bathroom which was fine for us. Our relatives enjoyed the ensuite r...

The location when found was wonderful. The beds are well made and comfortable providing a good night's sleep. The breakfasts are divine. Bats fly around outside at night. Tea and coffee provided in the room with a few quality street and a penguin. Sufficient to make you feel spoilt. Bathroom luxurious although can be shared with others depending on who stays.
