The refurbished Queen's looks good. It's fresh and bright and has retained the lovely aged character of the place. The staff are pleasant and welcoming. But there are a few buts. If you just want a drink the seating is poor. The owners have gone gastro, which is fine (and the menu has top-end pub prices) but there isn't a sense that they want local trade. The chairs in the large entrance bar all surround one small coffee table; it's not welcoming. I had two pints of the local Level Best at £4 a pint. London prices. Other locals have their session beers at £3.20-£3.50. A rethink here needed. The place has potential. I'm sure an overnight would be lovely.
