We take our grandchildren here at its great. Lots to do and see and the staff here are brilliant. The animals are all cared for properly and you are allowed to touch them and feed them. There are plenty of hand washing facilities so don't worry about germs. There are play areas inside and outside that are fantastic. When you need a rest there's a good restaurant and a nice picnic area too, so spend the day here it's worth it.

We visited the rare breed centre today. What a great day out. The centre not only offers visitors opportunities to see unusual breeds of goats, sheep and pigs along with a wonderful array of poultry, but it is part of the charity Canterbury oast trust which was established to help adults with learning difficulties establish independence and life opportunities, indeed a number of the charity clients work in the centre. Great to see a charity really working at grass roots. The falconry display was excellent and the pig racing was superb as well as very very funny. Food and catering was very good. A real gem of a day out.

We arrived at this centre in the early afternoon last Saturday, just in time to watch firstly, a demonstration by Birds of Prey and secondly, a race for pigs, featuring four ginger porkies!

The Bird Handler has great rapport with the Falcons and Owls which seemed to anticipate his every command. The display included very low flights by one of the Owls over the heads of the spectators, aiming for a bench on which a morsel of food had been placed. All very spectacular, especially for photographers with high speed shutters in their cameras!

The Pig races were very popular and about 8/10 spectators were selected from among those who volunteered to assist, which all added to the fun.

There are very many attractions to see, including many different types of animals and birds, including horses and donkeys.

There is also a very good restaurant, and a well-stocked shop where ice creams and gifts can be purchased.

We had a most enjoyable time there and highly recommend it, especially for children ~ of all ages!

Went with my husband and daughter and arrived lunch time. We headed straight to the cafe and had a lovely lunch! Our daughter loved getting to meet and stroke all the animals especially 2 goats near the main entrance who loved to be stroked and cuddled.
I have walking difficulties and was really pleased to find out they do wheel chair hire which really helped me out. We watched the falconry show and our daughter loved it! The helper at the falconry show was absolutely lovely. She explained it was her second day of doing a little talk about Harris hawks and she was a bit nervous. We didn't get her name but she did a great job and had a good chat with us and our daughter.
We had a lovely time and the food and staff were lovely too!
