Sunday lunch was well cooked and ample. The food service was prompt although the drinks took a little while. The menu was commendably short, suggesting actual cooking from real ingredients. The surroundings are pleasant sited as it is away from the common herd. The diners were respectable.

Lunch at the Hoops was delicious today Friday 15th Feb.
Great ambiance with busy but friendly atmosphere and relaxed feeling to the restaurant.
The grounds are very pretty with great outside seating which will be inviting once the weather improves. The Hoops is right opposite the Henry Moore Foundation so a really good place for lunch after a visit there. Will definitely be back.

This is my 4th visit to the Hoops since it was renovated about 3 years ago. During that time, the owners have changed the management 3 times(!). Previous visits have been mixed. In the past, we experienced slow service, mistakes with orders, and the food was OK to being rather bland. Value for money could have been better.

So today, we thought we'd give the Hoops another try - and I'm pleased to say that since the people from Host have taken over the management, there has been a big improvement in everything. The new front of house staff were courteous, attentive and efficient. As for the food, it was very good, well presented and delicious. The service was much faster (the last time we went it took the waitress 20 minutes to get me some crisps!) and we managed to have a lovely 2 course meal in about an hour.

Value for money was much better. It is a little bit on the pricey side, but I can see they are targeting the higher end of the market and the quality of the food/service we received does make it worth that little extra.

So, a good experience all around and we will definitely be back.
