“Great place for a family holiday”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

Excellent camp site with a selection of tipis and yurts well spaced out in a woodland setting. Clean kitchen and bathroom facilities. Children all having a great time playing in the woods. Lots of nice touches around the place like fresh flowers on tables and in the tents. Lots to do in the area such as kayaking on the river Wye. Quite expensive for what it is, but goes with the territory I suppose.

Myself and my boyfriend had such a great time staying here - we stayed in the Little Owl Yurt which was lovely - comfortable and clean! facilities are great and each yurt/tipi get their own fridge and you really have everything you need for cooking in the kitchen. The owners are very helpful and Shamus cooked us an amazing meal on the Sunday night: Beetroot and Feta cheese Risotto - he went to extra effort as it was my boyfriend's bday and after the meal he gave us a jar of fresh berries he had picked from the garden which was a nice touch! It was excellent value as well - only £6 each. I would realyl recommend staying here and trying one of Shamus's meals at least one night - he is open to cooking pretty much what you want! Will definitely go back next year.

We has a wonderful week in bluebell Yurt. Very comfortable and warm. Loved the touches with the hot water bottles and the blankets, the pizza oven and the swings dotted around the place. Extremely well appointed with great kitchen facilities and coved areas if rain. A really magical well thought out beautiful place. Will return, for sure. Kids loved it, we loved it. Other campers nice down to earth people too. Children loved it, very magical and memorable. A lovely spot and worked well in bad weather and good.

We stayed in Buzzard tipi. This was a surprise birthday present for my boyfriend and i must admit i was a little dubious as i wasnt sure what to expect but felt it was something different.
We had a fantastic time, bbq, bonfires and relaxing in the hammock, all in our very secluded area outside the tipi. Inside the tipi was roomy yet cosy and romantic with the kingsize bed and tea light lanterns. The walk to the local pub took longer than anticipated but the walk back through the dark woods was an adventure in itself! Staff and other holiday makers were all very friendly. We didnt have children with us but not once over the 2 days did we hear a child cry, they were all having too much fun. Since our return we have recommended to so many friends and family. We will be returning without a doubt. Thank you Julia.

Room Tip: This experience should be on everyone's 'bucket list'.

We stayed here Bank holiday Monday - Friday of half term, this time in Valley Yurt. We enjoyed this visit even better than last year's, despite the awful weather!!!! Valley Yurt was gorgeous, although this one does have windows and no curtains!!!!! - towels worked very well. It got quite chilly and the log burner in the yurt was fab. It was lovely and peaceful and even though the small children were playing and exploring, they did not disturb the tranquillity. The toilets and kitchen were spotless and the showers were lovely and hot. The woodland setting is beautiful, other yurt sites we looked at were just in fields and did not have the atmosphere that you get in the woods. We loved that the barbeques and wood burners etc were all made from recycled materials as was the bed. It is wonderful that the owners provide recycling bins for all materials (just a shame that not everyone used them!!!!) and eco-friendly washing up liquid etc... well done Julia and Mark - it is beautiful.

Room Tip: Yurts much more spacious and cosy than tipis

We stayed here bank holiday weekend 2013. Arriving very late we were welcomed by a very accurate map, luckily we had bought our own torches! not a problem as we wheeled our belongings through the yurt Village but getting down from the car park required some light!
Magicalfrom the word go! the children loved every minute. Rope swings, tyre swings, acres of wood to run in. For teh first time ever I relaxed as they disapeared out of sight!! We saw Badgers, Squirrels (cheeky squirrels who will have your food if you leave it out!)
All the facilities perfect a good mix of Eco and practical. A lovely walk down to the New Harp Inn at Hoarwithy and a cycle in the forest of Dean, although to be fair there was enough to do without leaving the site.

Room Tip: Yurts are much more luxurious than TIPIS!!

We spent a long weekend here at the beginning of June, never having stayed in a yurt before. We stayed in little owl yurt at the top end of the site and it was fantastic. The yurt itself was beautifully appointed and clean. The outside area of our own, with open fire and benches was great. There were no restrictions about making fires and you could really 'get back to nature'. Being able to wander in the woods to collect your own wood was great. The kitchen (shared between 3 yurts and 1 tipi) was excellent and it was a fantastic idea giving each yurt/tipi their own fridge. Toilets and showers were spotless.
We are hoping to return next year.
