Woodland Tipis and Yurts
Reviewed May 14, 2012

We stayed at Woodland Yurts and Tipis as a last minute break on Saturday/Sunday this week; Julia was really helpful dealing with our last minute booking.
The yurts are lovely, king sized beds, wood fire stove, lanterns and plenty of rugs and blankets. It was lovely to wake up in the mornings and see the blue sky through the skylight. Each yurt has its own picnic table, hammock and campfire area. there are also lots of communal tables set under shelters. There are fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms with electricity, so you don't quite have to be without all mod-cons! Everything has a lovely shabby chic theme and was really gorgeous.
Nearby are a couple of nice pubs and plenty of good walks.

Room Tip: Woodpecker yurt was at the far end of the yurt "village" and seemed the most private.

Who needs a pokey B&B room when you can stay in a luxurious yurt!
Bluebell Yurt was our home for 3 nights during a rather wet week in July .
The superbly equipped kitchen with a fridge for each Yurt provided pots & pans, crockery, cutlery you name it.
Go back to nature & cook your stew over an open fire (firewood provided) or stick a pizza in the clay oven...real outdoor adventure stuff & no tacky plastic play park for the kids just paths to explore and rope swings from the trees.
Great toilet/shower facilities too.
Nice area & a couple of fab pubs a short walk/drive away.
Canoeing close by on the Wye
OK.. so its not the cheapest camping holiday but you pay for what you get I guess & what you get is a 10 out of 10 camping experience!! Thanks

Just returned from a week at woodlands and I have to say it far exceeded our expectations. The family who run it could not be more helpful and friendly. The yurts and tipis are really lovely and the other facilities such as the kitchens and bathrooms are much better than I would have thought possible. The owners think of everything from making recycling easy, to providing flowers for the tables, tea lights, hammocks, hot water bottles and wood for the fires outside and burners inside. The children loved it. Simple pleasures....playing on the rope swings, hiding in the woodland, toasting marshmallows. We adults relaxed around the fire with a glass of wine long in to the evening. Just superb, we will definitely return. On an additional note my son locked my keys in the boot of the car leaving me stranded long after the others had left, waiting for the AA. During the wait, the owners gave my son tractor rides around the site as they prepared for new guests, he was then invited to the owners house to play with their son while I waited it out with a book. They even gave us ice creams....bless them, they were absolute stars! So kind. Book with them, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. We are already preparing our next trip!

2011 was our second visit to this idyllic site set in the woodlands of former husky racing forests ... this year our family stayed in two tipis (Lark and Robin) which gave more than ample room for the 7 kids (ages 7 - 15) and 2 adults with the added benefit of almost exclusive use of an out door tented dining area and easy access to the brand new kitchen / shower block (complete with roll top bath!!) and, for those who like a bit of privacy when contemplating, a choice of 3 new compost toilets (although there are flush loos for those who need them!)

The facilities here are great with plenty of space between each Tipi and Yurt for a good level of privacy but also communal kitchen areas areas for socialising ... a traditional wood burning oven is the best for making proper authentic tasting pizza - all you need is a bit of planning to light the freely provided fire wood and while the oven comes to temperature you have plenty of time to make your own dough and toppings ... great with a bottle (or two) of a good red wine OR get a box of organic scrumpy delivered with a host of other supplies by Corey Organics (delivery on Friday evening direct to site).

It's a great place for kids: they were off foraging for wood and playing with new made friends and to be honest we did not see them for most of the time ... the Husky racing tracks through the forest are great for bikes and there's plenty of wood for making bows and arrows, walking sticks and whittling etc ... while we kicked back and lay in hammocks.

The family that run this business are friendly, helpful and really care that everyone has the best time ... a special mention to Mark who occupied the kids with tractor rides through the forest, fixed a fellow camper's bike and even managed to conjure up an extra table for the bake house at a moments notice ... all with a smile - FANTASTIC!

The, "Shabby Chic" facilities are functional but more than adequate for their purpose ... if you're expecting a sanitised experience free from smoke, spiders and soil then this place is not for you BUT if you want a relaxing holiday with everything you need, at hand, to have a great camping holiday in a traditional (but well appointed) Yurt or Tipi with the added joy of hot and cold running water, a fridge and a cooker (with fresh flowers on the table) then book now!

Matt & Nikki et al...

Room Tip: Take ingredients to make your own pizza, from scratch, and you are in for a treat!!

We've just got back from a five day stay at Woodlands and I can't recommend this place enough. Set in a beautiful part of the rolling Herefordshire countryside, this oasis sits nestled in it's own woodland which is absolutely beautiful.
We stayed in a tipi which was fully equipped with everything we needed, and with two fully equipped kitchens aswell you'll never run short of the utensils you need, whether you're cooking outside on the open fire or using the ovens in the kitchens. Each dwelling has it's own picnic table, open fire and hammock and enough space outside to run wild in ! The showers were always clean with plenty of hot water for all.
We went for a romantic break as a couple, but I could also see the attraction for famlies with children...with endless woodland paths & adventures to be had, at the end of a busy day exploring there's even a roll top bath to bathe your little monkeys in.
Every small detail has been taken of here, from the endless supply of chopped logs for the fire, & tea lights for the lanterns, to the undercover eating area's in case of bad weather..oh and then there's the authentic pizza oven aswell if you choose to feast on homemade pizza !
There's a couple of compost toilets, which weren't at all smelly or for those who'd rather feel the comforting sensation of porcelain then there's flush toilets too.
Really guys, if you do one thing you have to go and experience this tranquil place - either as a couple with plenty of Champagne or with the family who need to let off some steam...either works well here !
Well done Jane & Mark in creating such a beautiful haven...and in the words of Arnie....WE'LL BE BACK !!!!!

Room Tip: Buzzard tipi is the most secluded for a cosy couples holiday

I have just returned from my third trip to Woodland tipis and yurts. The location is lovely, a little wood, secluded and quiet, and the yurts are wonderful! Haven't stayed in a tipi, but they look great too. The facilities are clean and we didn't have any problems with hot water at all. A big plus is the camp fire! Not to mention two very good pubs within a reasonable walking distance. The staff are unobtrusive though friendly and welcoming, and available if you need anything.

Highly recommended for a a relaxing getaway.
