“Great place to stay!”

I stayed at the Crown Inn for four nights last March and had a wonderful stay. Sheila and her staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the Crown for walkers or car travelers!!!

Came here for Sunday lunch after a few hours walking on the Offa's Dyke path, on the nearby Hatterrall ridge. We all had the roast lamb with lots of different veg and it was great.
Pub serves food all day on Sundays which is unusual, but very useful if you are out walking or cycling.

There's a warm welcome at this friendly country pub, which provides a very comfortable B&B. The food is excellent, freshly cooked and locally sourced, and there's well kept real ale in the bar, warmed by a log fire. A lot of Offa's Dyke walkers stop by, and the landlord and landlady are ready to assist with taking bags on along the route. There's a range of beautiful walks available from the pub or at a short drive. The Cat's Back walk is well worth doing - amazing views on both sides at once from an almost knife ridge.

We met our partners, who had spent several days walking Offa's Dyke, at this, their last stop. We had Sunday lunch, which was excellent and for me included luscious Moroccan orange cake and cinammon ice-cream - when I complimented the landlady she introduced me to the lady who baked them and who was there for Sunday lunch too! It's a pub you feel really is at the heart of the community.
We were so impressed that, when the walkers started the next leg of the journey, we all stayed at the Crown for supper and b&b. Again, great value meal in the bar by a roaring fire, delightful sevice and then comfortable night's sleep before excellent breakfasts. This has been a hard winter for Longton's hill farmers but the welcome at the Crown was as warm as our cosy rooms.
Walking or not, I'm sure we'll head back for food and an overnight stay again soon.

Even as a local to Longtown in Herefordshire, my wife and I have spent a few nights at their B&B public House. As we live a few miles away and no taxi service in the area, we have booked a room there to have a night out there in the very welcoming, warm and friendly pub. The landlady and landlord are lovely people and very welcoming indeed. The food is good and The rooms are spotless. Very comfy rooms indeed, brilliant breakfasts, all in all a real rural retreat for anyone that loves that kind of thing.

Room Tip: For a weekend away, walkers or even if you just want a night out of it all in the wonderful Golden V...

Visited the pub for dinner on Friday evening with 2 friends. The pub offers an extensive menu, I had lamb and redcurrant and rosemary pie at £8.50 which was lovely and a good price. I followed it up with Moroccan orange cake with cinnamon ice cream which was delicious and less than £4! The pub seemed to be pretty quiet in the dining area when we were there but it had a nice atmosphere and the bar seemed fairly busy.Good food at good prices in a beautiful place, I would definately go back.

We stayed one night while walking Offas Dyke Path in this inn originally built in 1659, but now fitted out with comfortable ensuite rooms for the B&B section, while maintaining its traditional pub bar with good meals as well. Sheila is a welcoming though busy hostess (she does the pub cooking as well). We arrived pretty wet after an afternoon of rain on the Black Mountain ridge and there was plenty of heating to dry things out, a nice bathroom and comfortable sized bedroom with TV. Excellent full English breakfast, and WiFi a bonus.
