“Good food and lovely setting”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Had a nice late lunch on Bank Holiday Monday with the family. Food was good and the local beer was nice as well. Sat outside in the sun, plenty of space to seat and eat and also plenty of car parking.
minor quibble was too much red onion in the salads...and it was very strong onion!
Trout fillet with seafood risotto was tasty!

Overall...will go again (and ask for no onions)

“Good food guaranteed!”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

We visit regularly for Sunday lunch which is always good but on this visit it was for my birthday on a Friday evening. The place always has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are friendly with excellent service. I had the fish platter to start absolutely gorgeous and lovely presentation, my other half had pate which was also delicious.Steaks to follow cooked to perfection and cut like butter. Needless to say too full for a desert but again some lovely choices available. I can recommend the steak and ale pie individually home made and the best in Hampshire! Well done to everyone there and we look forward to our next visit!

“Veggie delight”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

A very cosy bar / restaurant and great vegetarian burger! Good guest ale, and only a pleasant stones throw fromn the B&B. Despite appearing to be isolated, there was also a convivial atmosphere; the place is clearly very popular.

“Really gone down hill - it's a shame.”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

We have been quite frequent visitors of the Lone Barn Fox & Hounds and it was one of our favourite pubs. However, in the last few months it has really gone down hill which is a real shame. We have been served cold mussels, super small portions of risotto, dry, rubbery chicken satay and wilting salad. The food which is described in the menu is not always how you actually receive your food, for example warm, toasted bread is just bread... and the portion sizes of chips are very stingy considering the prices you are expected to pay. We thought that this was just a blip and continued to go back to give it "one last go" but after taking our friends there and receiving 4 below average meals including starters, I don't think we will be returning. My advice, if you do really want to go there, is to book a table in the barn. Service is a lot better, the waiter there is much more personable and will even try to get the chef to increase your portion sizes slightly, although there is not guarantee. Whilst there are individual members of staff who remain friendly and helpful the overall experience is a poor one.

“Wonderful atmosphere.”
Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

We have often eaten here its such a wonderful building with a fantastic atmosphere. The menu has now become more limited sadly since its no longer privately owned. But well worth a visit, sunday lunch good and attentive staff. Wonderful open fires in the winter.
