I stayed on a business trip.
The reception was warm and friendly, and the room well appointed and clean. Free wifi was a real bonus and should be available in all hotels. I spent a very comfortable and quiet night.
Restaurant was good, daily specials were available, although chicken was a bit on the tough side, the sauce was great and the vegetables perfect. Nice pint of Pedigree served with a smile too.

A group of 8 of us travelled from Ireland recently for a wedding and friends recommended for us to stay at The Red Lion. As it was so cheap, we weren't expecting a lot but on arrival, we were given a very warm welcome by the owners, Darren and Jenny and the bar area had a very nice atmosphere. The rooms are small but very clean, modern and all that we were looking for with the added bonus of flat screen tv and many channels. The breakfast had so much selection of fruit, croissants and a full English fry up all freshly prepared. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't nice during our stay but if it had of been, the surrounding area was very nice for a long walk to clear the head after one too many wines the night before. Would definitely stay there again!!!

Room Tip: We were all happy with the rooms we were staying in!!

The Red Lion is a pub with very comfortable accommodation and serves superb food. It is an ideal location for visiting Hadrian's Wall and is situated in a quiet village.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating making you feel most welcome.
Comparing the price of the rooms and the excellent food served the Red Lion offers excellent value.
We would certainly stay there again.

I spent one night here on the 28 Dec 2011. The room was dirty, waste bin not emptied from previous occupants and there were cotton buds under the bed.
Room 6 which required you walking through a poorly lit outside courtyard was not an experince I will be rushing to try again. The resturant was very ordinary and certainly not worth a second visit. Breakfast very basic I settled for a safe option of toast, had to then ask for preserves as it came without any.

Room Tip: Choice somewhere else

Stayed for 1 night on the 10th Dec 11. The room was very well presented, clean, warm and comfortable. Flat screen tv with loads of channels, tea / coffee making facilities and good bathroom. What more could you want especially for the price we paid. Pub has lots of character and a good choice of food and drink on offer. Breakfast, which was included in the price, was superb. If you are staying here and enjoy Indian food, there is a fab indian about 5 miles away at Wrightington called "The Rivaj". Try It.
