This is not a luxury hotel but a charming older house, set in lush gardens, with a magnificent view. A fantastic base to explore Byron Bay and the hinterland. We stayed over Easter, going to the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival, and enjoyed being out of town during the busy times.
Welcoming host and an adjacent restaurant with wonderful food.
We loved it and would stay again.

We had a similar experience at this place.

Really grotty accommodation at a premium price. And the most appalling attitude from the owner/manager, who needs to learn a thing or two about customer service.

I'm amazed that the place hasn't been closed down by the relevant health authorities - we spotted mice and cockroaches, and as described by 'Smitty' - greasy, dirty kitchen. Bathrooms looked like they needed a serious scrub. The fridge was verging on disgusting and he cobwebs outside have to be seen to be believed. Horrible!

We asked for our money back - but the owner wouldn't have a bar of it. So we packed up and left early.

Stay away - and tell ALL your friends about this place. It's to be avoided at all costs!

We had booked a week at this location, it is a house next to a restaurant run by the owners. The cost was $2,000AUS for 7 days. On arrival, they were still "cleaning" so we had to occupy ourselves for an hour and a half. When we settled in and unpacked our groceries, we decided we would cook on the barbecue. Imagine our horror when opening the hood to find a pool of grease floating in water! The owner came to clean this straight away, however, we decided not to cook on the bbq. We then had a serious look around the house; cobwebs in every corner, and I'm not talking small, dusty cobwebs, I'm saying they would not have seen a duster in many months, big, thick cobwebs around the ceiling fans, under the cooktop canopy and on every outside surface. The cooktop was covered in grease, the ceiling in the kitchen/dining was orange with grease, there was mould on the kitchen ceiling and in each of the bathrooms. We were wondering what we had stepped in to. We had left some bananas in a fruit bowl on the kitchen counter and woke up in the morning to find that they had been gnawed..... obviously rodents were present. My brother-in-law went to speak to the owner to advise him that he needed to discuss some issues with him. As he was busy in the restaurant, he advised that he would return later that day. We went out and didn't return until later in the evening and noticed that the rest of the bananas that we had wrapped in plastic had been chewed through! Later in the evening, we were sitting in the lounge room when I noticed something at the corner of my eye.... the rat was crawling over the kitchen counter !!!! The next morning I went to speak to the owner whose attitude was unbelievable. He advised that he was happy with the cleanliness aspect of the house, shrugged his shoulders when I told him about the rat and advised me that he has a successful business which is booked out every week! He also advised me that we were free to leave any time we liked. Not once did he acknowledge our complaint. He may have a successful business, now, but how long will that last with an attitude like his? And, I wonder how many repeat customers he has? Do yourself a favour, avoid this place like the plague, if you'll pardon the pun!
