“The Perfect Getaway!”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

What a perfect place to getaway from it all and enjoy the peaceful serenity of Pescadero. My husband and I live in Cabo San Lucas and decided to get out of town for a few days to avoid all the chaos during the G20 event in Cabo. Normally we drive to La Paz or Los Barilles when we go out of town, but decided this time we didn't want to drive that far. We decided to join some of our other friends who suggested Las Palmas Tropicales. With the new road from Cabo to Todos finished we made it to Pescadero in record time. There were 10 of us total and we rented 4 casitas. Bobby and Wendy greeted us upon arrival and welcomed us like we were part of the family! The casitas are clean and well equipped with everything you need if you are planning to bring food to prepare. They even had Sea Salt from Costco in each of the Casitas which was a pleasant surprise and I only make note of this because I actually packed mine and brought it based on my husbands request and that is something you don't usually see when you travel. There is a nice bbq area where we grilled steaks and potatoes and sat around afterwords with guitars in hand, enjoying the music and the company of good friends. The next morning we woke up to the sweet smell of home made cinnamon rolls. Wendy and Bobby suggested that we could place and order for cinnamon rolls from a local baker who would deliver them in a the morning. We couldn't resist so we ordered a dozen. They were delicious. We spend our day a the beach which is only steps away from the casitas. This came in handy for bathroom breaks and lunch time. The beaches are beautiful and so quiet and peaceful. There were a couple surfers in the water but besides that it was like we had the whole beach to ourselves. We had such a great time that we didn't want to leave. The weather was perfect. It is about 10 degrees cooler than Cabo and 20 degrees cooler than San Jose so it is a perfect place to escape for a getaway to beat heat and enjoy a cool breeze. Las Palmas Tropicales is our new favorite getaway spot and we cant wait to plan our next visit.

What a spectacular place to stay in El Pescadero. Just 20 minutes south of Todos Santos and a mere hour north of Cabo San Lucas and literally steps away from a beautiful beach on the Pacific Ocean. They have done an amazing job at building this gem. The accommodations were luxurious! Super comfortable bed, everything you need in the kitchen, filtered drinking water, awesome sunset view and sweet shower with great water pressure. With free wi-fi onsite, one could simply live here forever (: Bobby, Wendy and their children were just a delight! We have definitely made friends for life. Their warmth and welcoming arms made us feel right at home. They've thought of every detail to make our stay unbelievable and we are so happy we decided to stay with them. Located at the end of the road, all you hear is the wonderful sound of the ocean. Stroll down the beach or head into Todos Santos for a day of shopping and eating, whatever your plans, staying here will be the icing on the cake.

Room Tip: I loved our room, the del Mar, but I'd say any casita that you stay in will be amazing.

I spent 2 nights at Las Palmas Tropicales in Casita Hibiscus and my only regret is not staying longer! As many of the other reviews have mentioned, Bobby and Wendy and their daughter are incredibly warm, welcoming and helpful.

The location is perfect. Falling asleep to the ocean is pretty much my ideal way to sleep. I love the palapa they built on the property that serves as a fantastic viewing deck for the sunset. It's also a nice retreat when you're baking on the beach during the day. Speaking of which, wear sunblock liberally. The sun does not mess around down there.

As a woman traveling alone, I felt very safe staying there and in El Pescadero / Todos Santos in general. Renting a car from the airport and driving there is easy, I would just recommend arriving during daylight hours on your first day because you need to drive down a dirt road to get to the property and I can imagine it being confusing if you're navigating in the dark. On my 2nd night I ended up having dinner with Bobby and a few of his visiting friends and they were great company. Really could not have asked for more from my stay there, highly recommend it!

Room Tip: Casita Hibiscus has a detached bathroom/shower that makes those middle of the night bathroom runs a...

We recently spent 6 nights in Casita Oleandar, which is a free-standing studio on the property. The casita was clean and well-equipped. We enjoyed the hammock area, and the covered wave viewing area. Most of all, we appreciated the graciousness of Bobby and Caitlyn.

This was my first trip down to baja, and I want to first say that I felt totally safe the entire trip. We did not get stopped by police, federales, or anybody even once. The local people were amazingly friendly and welcoming. We flew into cabo, rented the car, and drove about 1 hour to the house. A nice 4 lane freeway is almost completed, which makes the drive quick and easy. The complex is literally right on the water. We rented the big house, which was awesome. Fully stocked kitchen - water dispenser (bobby will bring extra 5 gal bottles if you need them), coffee maker, pots, pans, utensils, stove, big fridge. No microwave. The house is really nice, with lots of windows that look out to the beach/break. The owners Bobby and Wendy are super friendly and are there daily to take care of anything and give advice.

Surf: Great surf right outside the house, and in the area. The break outside the house has mostly rights, with a point farther north, and other breaks closer to the house that have some lefts. It is rocky closer to the point, but sandy when the tide is higher. Wave quality the week we were there was great, head high. Reminded me of uppers/churches because of some great long rides. No barrels. Water was much colder than i thought it was going to be. I wished i had a full suit, but did okay with a spring suit. There are other breaks around in driving distance. We went to one near todos sandos (20 minutes north of the house) which was much more rocky. And another beach break called los cerritos which was 10 minutes south which was really fun. This place also has a point, but we surfed the beach break. There are some decent board rentals there (shortboards and longboards for 25 US/day). some of the dawn patrol sessions were moderately crowded (nothing like CA), but the afternoon session were empty. Over friendly vibe from the locals (mostly ex-pats)

Living: you have to drive down a long dirt road to the house, so it is important that you stock up in the markets before coming in. There are smaller markets in the town where you can buy groceries. However, 10 minutes north there is a bigger town called todos santos which has bigger markets. todos santos has awesome street carts, restaurants, and bars to hang out.

Overall: i can't wait until i go back to Baja. Would definitely recommend renting here. the place was awesome, totally safe, with great surf right outside. My only complaint was that the internet was somewhat fickle. But less internet and more reading, relaxing, and surfing was probably better for me anyways.

Spent a week with some buddies in the main house. The owner was very accomodating to our needs and checked in daily to make sure we had everything from a spare mattress to more drinking water. If he was not available his wife or daughter was there to help us out.

The kitchen had a plethora of cooking utensils, pots, and pans and everything else a family needs to prepare a meal.

We had great surf all week and the beach was uncrowded with miles to walk to and fro. It is a quick drive from Todos Santos, and surf in Las Pastores to the north and Los Cerritos to the south.

WiFi connection was a bit weak in the house but good enough to crank out a couple emails. Don't expect to stream anything or upload/download.

I highly recommend this place and so would my buddies.

We stayed for four nights. Our casita was just what we needed: large bathroom, kitchenette, comfy bed and large sitting area. We took advantage of the bbq under the palapa, (there are two bbq areas with seating) cooking lobster, bass and halibut. The palapa has a hamock and a hamock chair which we enjoyed very much. There is a great viewing tower where we had dinner and could enjoy the sunset, as well as get a full view of the beach.

The beach is literally a minute or less away, depending on how fast you walk. The area is very safe. Everyone is friendly and ready to chat. Bobbie and Wendy are awesome hosts and know the peninsula very well.

In short, Las Palmas Tropicales is our new home away from home, and we are already planning for our next trip.

Room Tip: They have a variety of casitas, choose the one that meets your needs: 6 people, 4 people, etc. We s...
