Las Palmas Tropicales
Reviewed March 5, 2012

I booked a last minute trip to Baja and found Wendy & Bob's Las Palmas Tropicales online a few days before I left. I chose their place because of the location - it's literally right in front of one of Baja's best surf breaks, and the price - it was super reasonable for a solo traveler.

I stayed in the Casa del Mar for about 2 weeks. It was truly amazing! Fully-stocked kitchen, comfy bed, palapa roof, and super clean and nice. The place also offered an outdoor shower, covered storage area where you can stash your boards, outdoor grilling area and a porch from where you can check the surf or watch the sunset.

Wendy and Bob went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and always had enough water and towels throughout my stay. They even scheduled a massage for me in town that was truly amazing.

The casitas are nestled right on the beach, and are super private. It's a quiet, relaxing space. It's a 5 min drive to Pescadero (I recommend the Sandbar for dinner/drinks or Baja Beans for coffee) and a 10 min drive to Todos Santos (where there's tons of shops and restaurants - I recommend Barajas for some great fish tacos).

As a young woman, and solo traveler, I found it was a very safe place (nearly everyone I met was either American or spoke English). There's a lot of other travelers down there as well, so if you're looking to meet some new people it's a great place for that too.

I am definitely coming back to Wendy & Bob's and highly recommend their place.

We recently spent a month at Las Palmas Tropicales and enjoyed it thoroughly. It is a private and secure setting only steps from the beach and a world class surf break. Wendy, Bob and their family were fantastic hosts and a pleasure to get to know, and we look forward to seeing them again.

It is very difficult to find private affordable lodging near a safe beach on the Pacific side of the Baja. This rental was just what we were hoping for--privacy, space and next to the beach. To top it off we had booked 2 of the smaller casitas but when Bobby & Wendy had a chance to rent one out for a month, they gave us the entire large house for the same price! Super friendly host, and the sunset view from the palapa was amazing. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I had the perfect vacation at Las Palmas Tropicales. If you want to get away from the crowds, enjoy the pristine beauty of a well kept secret and world class beach there is no better place than Las Palmas Tropicales. Bobby and Wendy were wonderful hosts and made sure we had the time of our lives. We rented a jeep for the week and adventured around the areas to see some of the most amazing sights and authentic Mexican culture!

We will definitely be back! This is a truly memorable place!

Room Tip: The main house is wonderful for a family vacation, reunion or group reunion or retreat! YOu can'...

I will definitely be back to this hidden oasis on a nearly empty beach. Wendy and Bobby have created a very cool piece of paradise, on an incredible beach, in one of the nicest & most relaxing locations I've ever visited. The rooms were great (very clean and well maintained). My only concern (we arrived after dark) was what sounded like a train crash, but turned out to be the surf pounding the beach...lol very cool to spend a week so close to the water, (from the edge of the compound to the beginning of the beach was 30'). We moved into the main house after 5 days....words can't explain how great the view from the main house is, definitely a must do!

Room Tip: Casita Bougainvilla is a great room for a family of 4...but the house is even better!

We just spent a most wonderful vacation at Casita del Mar in Wendy and Bobby's Las Palmas Tropicales. It was so good that we will return next year for the whole month. The place was very clean, people were very friendly, the hosts were charming, generous, funny and most of all respectful of your own space. We loved the beach with those incredible surfers, the mountains with places to walk, the fish. Casita del Mar is very well equipped for two people with a small, but well stocked kitchen. The town of Todos Santos was very close by. It was a great experience that we hope to repeat in the future. Don't search for anything else, stay there!!!

If you can imagine a huge lonely beach, an entry thru a palm oasis, quiet evenings and fantastic sunsets, you have the right location. Tropicales even includes perfectly appointed casitas. The Pescadero location is the definition of easy going Baja. If you can't unwind here it may not be possible. We have spent many years searching for baja accomodations and this is one of the best. It was a very difficult place to leave.

Room Tip: Upper level rooms are more private from the patio.
