Villas de Cerritos Beach

My husband and I just spent a week in one of the 2nd floor villas. Accommodation was more than comfortable - plenty of room to spread out or perfect even for 2 couples or a family. The villas on the other side of the building from the pool might be a bit quieter. One thing I wasn't aware of from the website is the 2 bedroom casitas. Those facing the ocean side were very attractive. We spent the days walking the almost deserted beaches, exploring the surrounding areas, sitting by the pool and boogie boarding on Cerritos Beach. Relaxing but plenty to do. Miguel at the front desk and Lupita looking after the rooms were amazingly friendly, helpful and responded to our requests immediately with a smile. They provided information about eating out and where to explore. Restaurants in the area are somewhat uneven. We ended up going to the fish shop in Todos Santos a few times and cooked the best seafood meals in our villa for very little money. A great find. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: 2nd and 3rd floor villas give you the best view of the beach but some people prefer the 1st floor vi...

First of all, if you haven't been to Pescadero you have to go! It's impossible to describe how wonderful the people are, how beautiful the beaches are, how good all the food is...
So, after spending 3 nights at a wonderful but more "rustic" place I was a little frantic and finally relieved to find comfort with a touch of lux at the Villas. Miguel at the front desk is an angel, in fact every single person I met there (guest or employee) was a happy smiley friendly person. The price was well worth the great location (walk to the beach and surfing lessons), and I think a bargain. I spent a few nights with a friend in a two bedroom 1st floor Villa, and then a full week alone in a second floor studio Casita. Both were well furnished and very comfortable. I LOVED hearing the ocean at night and being able to see the wave first thing in the morning from my kitchen window and little studio terrace.
I'm hoping to go there again soon and maybe buy a casita.

Room Tip: not all rooms have an ocean view but all have great terraces to hang out on.

Unlike other accommodations in the area, the Villas are worth their slightly hefty pricetag. They are impeccably clean, quiet, comfortable, and Miguel at the front desk is super helpful! After a week of getting swindled pretty much everywhere we went, it was nice to feel like we were getting a fair deal. The villas are walking distance to Cerritos Beach, where we boogie boarded and saw whales putting on quite a show. They have large, clean kitchens, and gorgeous ocean views. And the hot tub was actually hot, which seems to be quite remarkable in Baja Sur. Half the hot tubs we encountered were luke warm at best.

I spent five days here in Novemeber by myself in one of their bungalows. Couldn't have had a better time! I was greeted as I got out of my car by Juan Carlos and immediately felt welcomed and comfortable. The bungalow itself was small without feeling cramped and the bathroom had fatastic tiling and a window that looked out to the shoreline. Speaking of the shore it's only a five minute walk and there's a spot to rent all kinds of boards for almost nothing at all.
The staff were an absolute delight, especially Torito the bartender, cook and all around great guy. He even came in on one of his days off!
The scenery was beautiful, the faces all smiling, and even all the dogs there were pleased to make a new friend! All told I can't recommend this place highly enough and definitely plan to return soon!

Room Tip: The bungalows are adorable but best for solos or couples.

The fact that over 95% of the reviews of this establishment in the past year are either EXCELLENT or VERY GOOD speaks for itself (Excellent ratings outweigh Very Good ratings 3:1). We were 'walk-ins' looking for a place for 5 nights. We were offered some choices and opted for Villa 3-A (top floor). Talk about spacious! View! Cleanliness! Exceedingly pleasant and helpful owner and staff (to a person). Each morning, Lupita (housekeeping manager) looked up to our balcony with a smile and inquisitive look indicating she was communicating "everything good?" Each morning we gave a thumbs-up. At the time of this review, there are at least 3 Villa suites available for rent. Apparently 2-B is heavily upgraded and is prime although we thought our large 2 BR suite 3-A was nicely decorated. We will return, without a doubt. If you are reading this in early 2013, be sure to ask about the new Villas and Casitas that will be complete in 5 months. You can get a great 2BR casita for $85 grand, all-in. We are thinking about it but are really leaning to rental due to other priorities with our retirement equity. For what you get, in spite of there being no TV and weak WiFi signal in the room (fine downstairs in the covered palapa), the 2nd and 3rd floor villas with massive decks are terrific. Be prepared to pay $182/night for this Villa as a walk-in and in my view it is worth every penny. Also, note that there is no elevator so you can cancel your exercise class for the day and simply go up to your room several times/day LOL. Thanks to Drew, Juan Carlos, Miguel, Pilar and Lupita for a great time. See you again.

We spent 2 nights in casita 16 in December and loved it! The unit is small and there is not much to it, but it is all we needed for the 3 of us. The staff was very helpful in putting an extra bed into the room for our daughter, meaning the kitchen table went outside, but we like it that way better. Lots of really nice people stay there, so the conversation is easy and the staff was very accomodating and friendly.
A couple of downsides - the beds were pretty hard and the onsite pool was cold, but with a beach like Cerritos just down the road, we made due just fine.
I woud suggest picking up supplies in los Cabos before you go, or, head into el Pescador, as there are no stores at Cerritos.

Room Tip: Let the manager know how many people will be occupying and if you need any special facilties.

Villas de Cerritos is not a place that jumps out at you from a distance as a flashy or extravagant beachside resort, but once you are inside the nicely landscaped grounds you begin to appreciate what a gem it really is. The ambience is laid-back and friendly and the staff will quickly make you feel welcome. We stayed in a small bungalow that was set off from the main building in an arrangement that had the feel of a primitive fishing village of thatched roof huts. Construction quality and attention to detail in the rooms were very nice. So often we find that Mexican beach resort properties are lacking in finishing detail, but not here. Everything works!

While we were in the area we explored the local options, including the Beach Club (overpriced food) and the Hacienda Cerritos boutique hotel (run-down, crumbling and unfriendly) and found that we were most happy to return to the friendly confines of Villas de Cerritos. The poolside food offerings are among the best in the area, though there are several other dining options in Pescadero and Todos Santos a few miles north.

This property is a short, ten minute walk to the local beach, which appears to be very popular with surfers. We found it to be perfect for long walks as well.
