“Peace in Baja”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

Cabo San Lucas has never felt like a secluded destination, but a quick flight from LA makes it such an easy weekend getaway. So, it was a treat to find Rancho Pescadero - It is so close (an hour north of SJD) and the rustic beauty and tranquility of the entire area makes you feel secluded and special. Amazing beaches, surfing, and food - and Todos Santos! The Rancho staff is exceptional and the property is amazing. We truly felt like we had the entire place - beach, bar, both pools - to ourselves. It was a great to find exclusivity in Cabo without having to pay One & Only prices. We can't wait to return with a group. We almost felt lonely!

Just returned from a wonderful, too short, 4 night stay at Rancho Pescadero. As mentioned by many, the tipping policy here makes the stay incredibly enjoyable (you dont need to carry money around). That, and the value you get here is amazing. A huge room with a rooftop deck with 360 degree view? WOW! I've been all around the world travelling, and this place ranks among my favorite hotels ever!

This place is perfect for a getaway from the kids - there are none here. If you surf you will be happy to know there are 2 world class surf sites nearby and the hotel will let you borrow a board gratis. Also, the food is fantastic.

An incredibly well run, magical place. Would love to come back.

Room Tip: Milagro Suites are well worth the splurge.

We've traveled to a wide variety of places across a number of different countries and have never been compelled to write a review before. Rancho Pescadero is an unparalleled paradise hidden away in Baja's rustic side; a combination that should not be missed by those who are looking for a world-class resort in an adventurous setting-the adventure being optional because you don't have to leave the Ranch for anything. Leaving our Pacific King room was a challenge, the food was off-the-charts good, the grounds immaculate and the staff amazing.

We recently returned from our 7th stay at Rancho Pescadero! What keeps calling us back?
Being the only ones on a stunning beach, seeing stars so bright like nowhere else, breathing air so fresh, walking through the garden to see what we might request for lunch or dinner, watching the mountains turn gorgeous shades of colors from morning to night, having a romantic candlelight dinner on the beach, being mesmerized by stunning sunsets over the ocean,
enjoying wildlife such as whales, sea lions, rays, jackrabbits, orioles, hummingbirds, osprey, pelicans. The baja is a wild and special place on planet earth and the Rancho lets you connect with it. And, you connect in style! The rooms are gorgeously designed and outfitted, the gardens and grounds are a feast for the eyes, there are two pools to enjoy - one more happening with the bar and music and the other perfectly quiet and often empty. The Rancho experience all comes together because of the wonderful staff and management!
We just booked a return for 4th of July - number 8, can't wait!

Room Tip: Rooms 2, 3, 6 and 7 are upper level rooms with an additional roof top area that lets you see 360 deg...

The staff is awesome , and retention of staff shows they love their work. They really connect with guests on a sincere personal level. We are so happy to not have to deal with Cabo - it is truly relaxing at the Rancho.
Great chef, great management. The grounds and facility are always clean and in great condition - never looks neglected or tired.
Although the place is overall awesome - there are a few things that could be improved:
A few issues with noise from bar & pool area -, disturbs the much sought for tranquility.
Also - poor planning for storage - all closets and shelves are in the bathroom = moisture issues - should have been in the bedroom area. Room safes are difficult to use and it seems any staff member has access code.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor have best view of the beach but are smaller than ground floor rooms. Ask for...

Read prior reviews for the appropriate praise and recommendations. I agree w/almost all the laudatory comments, w/a few exceptions. And remember, these are criticisms in the face of a strongly positive, enjoyable experience:

1. Beds-- beds get a "B", pillows a "B-". Surprising, since the rooms and property show so much thought and care.

2. Radio-- in the presence of crashing waves, wind through the palms, and birds singing, why does the radio have to be on at the bar/pool all day and into the night? My feeling is it was on more for the bar staff than the guests. Yes, they'll turn it down/off for a while if you ask, but who wants to be known as the guest who doesn't like music? We had to move from our initial room because the speakers down at the pool sent music up into our room, ruining the beach/waves/wind song.

3. Flies-- house flies, not sand flies, in abundance around the pool and by the outdoor restaurant. Some simple fly paper would go a long way here.

Again, this is a delightful place to spend time and unwind. I'd happily return, requesting to be away from the sound system. If you're driving from Cabo, as of this writing the road construction is almost finished and the trip is easy.

There really are not words to describe this place. Its so much more than a hotel, and a fantastic break from the resorts within the Cabo area. Oh, would you just like an unending supply of filtered water with your stay? Done. No tiny water bottles at $3/each here. We had intentions of going into Todos Santos but decided we didn't want to leave the pool because they kept bringing us yummy snacks and offering up fresh seafood for the eating! I didn't want to miss anything. Have Sergio make you a cilantro margarita, you won't be sorry. A small breakfast and coffee or tea is delivered to your door every morning - but just set outside so you can grab it when you decide to roll out of bed. We stayed in a Pacific Suite - room 10 and while I didn't peek into any of the more expensive rooms, the Pacific room was more than I could have imagined. It was close to the pool, but it was so quiet most of the time that this didn't bother us at all.
The only thing even close to a complaint that I can muster is that its so easy to get food and drinks here that if you're on a tight budget this might not be your style. Everything gets charged to your room without seeing bills throughout the trip, and then you just get your invoice at the end. So its super convenient that you never have to worry about carrying a wallet around, but in our case, we were taking bets on what our final tab would be. I suppose i could have asked, but decided it was worth every last peso and it didn't matter.
We will be back.

Room Tip: Room 10 is close to the pool, good view of the ocean. One of the less expensive rooms but large and...
